Givenchy Resort 2016 Collection

Givenchy has revealed its resort collection for 2016 and we are ecstatic! There is just something about the fashion house that has always appealed to us no matter what strange designs the creative directors have opted for. We still have the FW 2015 runway show in our minds, with the incredibly repulsive yet somehow alluring facial piercings still a major focus. We will never fully be able to separate Givenchy from facial piercings again! We can certainly begin to try and replace the images in our mind with something a bit more on the attractive side though, even if the designer is the same. Riccardo Tisci has officially been with the brand for 10 years and we are happy to say that for the most part, he has been astounding. He has, however, never before touched denim for his creations, at least until now. We are surprised to quite an extent in seeing jeans actually make it into the top fashion label’s resort collection! Boy were we thrilled.

The show was presented in a suite at the Mercer Hotel and showcased some awesome pieces. Candice Swanepoel was one of the gorgeous models Givenchy brought on to show off the latest in designs. We see dark rinse shirts in denim along with high waists on ever so slightly cropped jeans, the front seams raised to create a relaxed fit and casual environment, pulling in boxy sweatshirts overhead, while we see some other reference to the athletic world throughout as well.

There are some rather interesting trends noticed within the Givenchy resort 2016 collection. These include leopard prints and midi skirts, long dresses with pink and black leopard as well as cape jackets. The print makes it onto long dresses with long sleeves and high necklines, as well as stiletto heeled boots to match with the combination of fabrics creating the incredibly animalistic but thoroughly feminine garments. We see green in a lighter, more pastel coloring, as well as darker, pea style, while the one ensemble we love best is a maxi skirt with suit blazer, the slit up the side of the leg to the thigh very much in tune with the 2015 trends, while the huge button in the center also a decorative piece that seems to be making it into the 2016 era.

The biggest trend we see is the mermaid silhouette to the skirts as they come down tight, have cut outs around the knee areas and then have ruffled fabric falling lower to the calves. They come in pastel colors and shiny chrome, while ankle strap shoes are made to match with the skirts over them. Even the handbags come in matching patterns, the more interesting being the green leopard prints. We have to admit though, as little as we like the cut-out skirts, we love the pantsuits that come in mossy green coloring with a matching leopard print shirt. The strangest trend though is the lack of bra worn under tight dresses which shows off every last curve and bone in your lovely body.
