Gucci Pre-Fall 2016 Collection

We always look forward to a good Gucci show and when it is Alessandro Michele’s Gucci pre-fall 2016 collection that is being presented, you know we will be following the updates with great eagerness. After all, where else were we going to get those bright aqua pumps from for 2016? The event featuring the collection took place in a sprawling showroom, with pink wallpaper printed with flying herons all around. There are Roman backgrounds and mosaic floors, old villa pieces and detail oriented double doors. We cannot help but love it all, so much so that we almost forgot about the clothing items being presented before us. Almost.

Gucci Pre-Fall 2016 Collection

Within the collection itself, we notice intarsia fur coats in bright colors. We see the more demure midi skirts, pretty in their pleated states, 18th century patterns a common thing. Tulle on the evening dresses evoked a rather fairy-like demeanor, while glitter, embroidery and patchwork took their own places on the runway stage.

There were some rather interesting color combination in any case, with deep scarlet tights worn with bright aqua shoes, golden crepe dresses with red, green and white belts, paired with interesting pink and red and white jackets. Suede high waist midi skirts mean that the ladies look to have longer and leaner bodies, especially when paired with chunkier boots and a ruffled, patterned high neck blouse. The dresses take on multiple layers, lots of ruffles and lovely ribbons, sweetheart necklines looking exceptionally good, while the hems range in length from midi to mini.

Throughout the Gucci pre-fall 2016 collection, we see stripes and zigzags, contrasting colors and muted appeals, reds and greens and pinks and multiple shades of blue, with some transparencies and lots of layers upon layers as seen all the way throughout the line. Decorations on the pieces themselves included butterflies and ants, snakes and tigers, swallows and kittens, tropical foliage and trees or strawberries, as well as many moons and stars. It was fun and it was so very Gucci, especially with the graphic additions to denim, sweaters, shoes and handbags.

In terms of accessories, expect a lot of golden pieces, from oversized glasses to pretty berets. We notice all kinds of warmer looks on stage, and a rather hipster appeal overall that takes Gucci to a new platform. Large dangling earrings, fingers full of rings, double necklaces, fun handbags, and many other pieces attest to the funkier side of Gucci for the pre-fall season.

Large flowers in the hair mark an interesting 1980s meets 2016 attitude in of itself, while the footwear ranges from stiletto sandals to pompom accented ankle ringed kitten heels. We even have go-go boots in bright aqua, high platform shoes that go strangely with the hipster styles and a general look that has us wondering as to the mindset of the designers. There are golden gloves and pretty scarves, and lots of hearts everywhere. Awesome collection by an awesome designer house, the presentation as alluring as the colors, textures, images and details!
