Gucci Spring/Summer 2016 Collection – Milan Fashion Week

Alessandro Michele once again dazzled the audience with his Gucci spring/summer 2016 collection that focused on creating an illusion through curious prints, cuts and layering techniques that left us all spellbound.

Milan Fashion Week spring 2016 is in full action and we are head over heels in love, as expected. With the top Italian designers coming out to play on the catwalk, it becomes impossible not to remain there fixated and staring utterly mesmerized at all the creative ensembles gleefully pushed onto the runway. After all, we have players like Gucci among the fray and what better way to celebrate the first days of the Milan Fashion Week than through thoroughly enjoying the shows taking place with ardor.

The Gucci spring 2016 collection was very much a hit and we could not help but fall head over heels in love with nearly every single piece presented. “These hints gather on the collection’s clothes to form eclectic palimpsests rich with heterogeneous references. The clothes are transformed into psycho-geographic maps capable of recording the urban unconscious: maps that embroider the world within a discourse of affectionate intimacy.”

This is what the Gucci show’s note said as the invitees filed into the space, all excited to find out what sort of masterpieces the designers had come up with this time. Beautiful and wistful the ladies were as they sauntered onto stage amidst the black flowers and slithering pink snakes. The idea was to create a certain beautiful freedom through the fashion designs, throwing in beautiful motifs from all around the world.

Then when it comes to the snakes, Alessandro Michele certainly loved having a few slither up the legs as well. Add Chinoiserie, Egyptian images and glimpses of times past mixed with the present and you have the latest in Gucci.

While some snakes were drawn out and appeared on trousers, others were skinned and turned into A-line skirts with pretty red pleating at the ends. Actually, it almost appeared as if the jungle had been brought into fashion, with leaves turned into a thin strapped top tucked into the skirt of snake.

Of course, that gives way to ladybugs climbing up ties as the girls step onto stage in glittery pantsuits meant to make Riddler from Batman jealous with their color and shimmer. Skirts with parrots on them seem quite normal as well, while we have to admit to falling in love with the flying parrot form on the long sleeved maxi dress with intriguing cubic designs in grey.

Of the latest trends in the fashion world, it is clear that the transparent designs are totally in, considering the fact that we see quite a bit of nipple peeking through and nude high waist panties coving up the unsanctioned areas we expect might become the norm to expose not too far in the future as well. We see tufts of organza and plunging necklines that can make all looking at the ladies wearing it blush.

In terms of accessories, oversized glasses were totally in, along with open toe or T detailed shoes, ties and handbags with chair or regular handles. Oversized bows appear here and there while we have the most interesting ribbons and hair accessories appearing throughout.

Let us just say that the Gucci spring 2016 show has been a colorful fanfare and we could not bring ourselves to tear our eyes away.
