Haider Ackermann Fall 2016 RTW Channels Fierce Elegance

“It’s a tough world outside and I want to have this gracefulness, this brightness, happiness,” said designer Haider Ackermann of his latest ready-to-wear fall 2016 collection. “To show the other side of what we are confronted with every day.”

It is true our world isn’t as easy as it could be, but designers, such as Ackermann, can make a huge impact just by providing everyone with beautiful clothes for each new season. But, of course, a truly inspirational line would be able to incorporate the hardships and turn them into another aspect of beauty. And with this in mind, Ackermann created a collection of skin-tight pants paired with masculine army jackets, but to top everything off was the fabric choice, including velvet and sparkle. So the designer brought the negativity of war in with the brightness of sparkle, to show the happiness interlocking with the sad.

The resulting looks were modern and young, perfect for the hot stars of today. In fact, celebrities like Ciara, Janet Jackson, and Kelly Rowland showed up to watch the presentation, and any one of them would look stunning in the tight looks presented on the catwalk. The iconic Pat Cleveland was also there, taking a turn on the sidelines of the runway, rather than walking on it like she did for H&M.

As was said, the pants were skin-tight, although Ackermann was rather insistent that they were graceful, not sexy. Honestly, that is one aspect that could go either way, depending on styling. Regardless of this, there would be no chance to carry anything in your pockets, so you’d have to look elsewhere for a purse to hold your belongings, as Ackermann added no accessories to his line. He let his tailoring and fit shine, deciding to lean to simplicity rather than over-embellishment. And for the most part, color played the same role. There was a substantial amount of blacks and other neutral colors, with color fighting its way into the mix in the middle of the show. Deep green and red showed itself on velvet garments, while there was a stunning pair of purple sparkly pants that seemed to stand out the most among others.

The Haider Ackermann fall 2016 collection was based on daywear, but there were some stunning pieces that could double as eveningwear. Some of the velvet pieces in particular would look great on a red carpet, but for this runway presentation they were dressed down for whatever time or occasion. Through his styling and overall presentation, Ackermann kept things simple and sleek for his presentation in a stunning metaphor for the world around us, and what can be done to make things a little bit better for everyone?
