Modernity at its purest with a sensual geometry is at the core of the newest Hervé Léger by Max Azria resort 2017 collection, which features both the French fashion house’s signature body-con and a few, super contemporary proposals that perfectly intertwine the label’s legacy with the hottest fashion trends of the moment.
When Max Azria relaunched the Hervé Léger brand back in April 2007, everybody was concerned about the label’s history and influence upon the fashion industry, wondering whether it marked the end of the era or not. Luckily, Azria was well aware of Hervé Léger’s importance not only in the industry but in pop culture as well. The French designer’s signature bandage-like strips have wrapped the bodies of some of the most influential personalities in the world, letting the wearers overwhelm the red carpets with a strong wave of self confidence.
Inspired from this legacy, creative director Lubov Azria focused on harmoniously cut pieces of fabrics, whether in the form of bondage strips or pleats, and geometric patterns to create her newest holiday-ready collection. The entire emphasis is placed on the hourglass silhouettes that sinuously and elegantly hug the bodies and elongate the figures.
The line-up’s color palette greatly helps the silhouettes to stand out even more, as Azria chose to counterbalance the grey, blue and overall cold-toned colors with the contrasting hems and warmer hues, such red and orange. What’s more intriguing, however, is the ample usage of nude colors, implemented either with shimmery strings of slightly darker-toned fabrics or with ombre patterns that keep up with the overall contrasting theme.
Such a contrasting theme is seen in the majority of silhouettes spotted in the collection, with the aforementioned sinuous hourglass designs giving enough room to explore the flared and peplum cuts as well. The many A-line and peplum shirts and skirts introduce another major theme exercised in the collection: the Nineties.
Thanks to the strategic cut-outs at the shoulders and the Americana necklines with laced-up embellishments, the Herve Leger by Max Azria resort 2017 collection takes us back to one of the most sensual decades of all, when some of the most notorious Herve Leger frocks were shown off by celebrities such as Tyra Banks, Elle Macpherson and Cindy Crawford.
Last but not least, given the fact that this resort 2017 collection comes just in time for next spring’s warmest days, Azria didn’t forget to add some swimwear proposals as well. The laced-up details and body-con versions of the one-piece will surely make those who love Herve Leger classics rejoice.
