The English fashion designer Henry Holland came into the fashion industry back in 2006 with his line of interesting t-shirts scripted with funny and witty rhyming messages such as “I’ll Tell You Who’s Boss Kate Moss”, ” Cause Me Pain, Hedi Slimane”, ” Get Yer Freak On Giles Deacon” and so on. The collection was called Fashion Groupie and brought instant fame to the designer.
The collections created by the label House of Holland have always been fun, utterly chic, playful and easy on the eye. The House of Holland spring/summer 2015 collection showcased at London Fashion Week spring 2015 was no exception. As a collection, it was rather girly with tons of floral patterns seen on almost every fashion article presented. It included the most diverse colors and the outfits were utterly cute and gorgeous.
Although the colors of the House of Holland spring/summer 2015 collection were rather abundant, there was nothing too bright when it came to color tones. The collection started off with an interesting and rather girly off-shoulder mini dresses in dark blue and maroonish red, with dark colored fringes around the breast area. The girliness of the dress was accentuated with a print of a yellow flower on one side. Holland also presented long A line skirts with zippers on the front going all the way down paired with long sleeved jackets of the same material and with matching floral patterns, a green mini dress combined with dark blue zip up jacket, shift dresses worn over long sleeved pink blouses, again with floral patterns, spaghetti strap yellow dresses, collared floral button down jackets with red and light purple miniskirts of shiny material. Dresses were also paired with jackets and long coats, and the color contrast between the pieces, or rather the harmony that colors created when put together was unbelievably gorgeous.
As for pants, we had wide leg floral pants with matching jackets worn over a flowery shirt in green and red (one might think too many floral patterns would be overwhelming, but they weren’t, oh they so weren’t!).
The show also saw one of the fashion trends already popularized during New York Fashion Week spring 2015 just a couple of days ago: off-shoulder mini dresses worn over long sleeve shirts. The trend was seen not once during New York Fashion Week and you sure remember the same trend in its black and white interpretation during Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2015 presentation. Here the colors, however, are much warmer: pale blue, black and beige patterned off shoulder dress was worn over a dark shirt that had a touch of shimmer in it. Similar combination of seemingly uncombinable was also seen towards the end of the show, where Holland had decided to top a simple black short sleeve tee with a strappy mini dress with a deep V-neck.
The end of the show brought brighter colors. We saw dresses and overcoats made of satin; lacy fabrics were also present. The footwear chosen by Holland mainly consisted of high heel sandals. Some of the looks were complemented with handbags and shoulder bags, again in floral prints.
All in all, the House of Holland spring/summer 2015 collection was not a line to be called feminine or elegant. But we are sure those House of Holland enthusiasts (we are among those) are going to have a hard time choosing a favorite outfit!
