J.Crew Spring/Summer 2014 RTW – New York Fashion Week

Colors. Colors? Colors! They keep invading New York Fashion Week runway again. This time J.Crew gave them the opportunity to show off with their marvelous combinations beautifully brought to life by Tom Mora. The thematic concentration of the J.Crew spring/summer 2014 collection is mainly around the beach ideas. The color tones are diverse, yet carefully and nicely chosen. A bright (in the common sense of the word) exemplification of this is a cute tea length dress created in the tones of pink and atomic tangerine put on the background of pure white. The narrow brown belt was a nice accompanying accessory for this piece.

Talking about the new J.Crew dresses, we can also mention the black tea length dress based on some classical tendencies, yet given a modernized look with the help of some shiny black cells imprinted all over the dress.
Another significant peculiarity of the J.Crew spring/summer 2014 collection was the decision to combine black-coral-yellow floral designs with black suit jacket made with those cute white stripes on the lapels. We can see the vice versa color composition of the same jacket in case of another piece, consisting of knee-length white shorts and a cute white top. In this piece, the background of the jacket is white, the lapels being edged black. Those mid-length shorts and skirts of different colors serve like the main clues that create that everlasting touch of summer.

Pants, pretty tight and loose, floral or monochromic greenish, bring just another page in this color storybook. Not forgetting about the sea motives encrypted on some of the pieces, we notice the influence of the beach here again, which was actually the main thread of the line. Other domineering colors in the collection are green, cream and some shades of blue, going together in one of the pieces.
So it’s unique, it’s comfortable, it’s wearable and it’s cool. It’s New York Fashion Week and the beach is closer than you think, as the J.Crew spring/summer 2014 collection hints!
