American actress Jessica Chastain is making news for appearing as the face of the Prada resort 2017 ad campaign. The actress was photographed at several different iconic locations throughout Milan, Italy by ultra talented Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre. The Prada cruise 2017 campaign features the new face of the upcoming collection in a very cinematic feeling set of ads set to debut internationally on October 31st.
What we can see of the Prada resort 2017 collection now shows that the dependable amount of chicness and grace that the Italian fashion house is known for is ever present while still being updated and fresh. The outfits pictured so far are very much like one of the venues for the ad campaign, the Milan Fondazione Prada, a building that was unveiled a year ago in 2015. Before its unveiling, the place was a distillery from the 1910s.
The Milan Fondazione Prada was a project conveyed to allow the concepts of preservation and new creation to harmoniously coexist. These are the same concepts applied in fashion, honoring the foundations of fashion while weaving in new ideas and concepts to keep fashion moving forward.
Despite the reveal date being Halloween, the Prada resort 2017 ad campaign does not have a single fright in frame. The designs are very linear though currently few in number, while we wait for the release of the rest of the ad campaign.
The clean lines are seen both in the black and white and color shots of the floral Prada dress with the metallic sandals and black accordion bag. The bag appears to be very simple and elegant, but has a pop of color on the sides. While the floral dress released in both shots is nice, the accordion handbag is the star of the photo, almost as much as Jessica Chastain in the Prada resort 2017 ad campaign’s first shots of the long dress.
The softly shining black trench-coat-style dress with the printed shoe is beautiful and dramatic in both the black and white close up and the color shot. The black and white and color shot of each outfit is intriguing; especially with the drama apparent in each shot, every outfit shown as though each item she has on is an important point in some cinematic plot that is going on.
The expressions on Jessica Chastain’s face sell every look, giving great emotion with her face and body language in each shot, just elevating the outfits from being shown in the photo to be worn in the photos. The realistic tension and poses provide a more realistic expectation of the clothes without appearing like a catalogue. Instead each look appears as you would expect a look from an Italian fashion house like Prada – inexplicable elegance in a wearable way.
