New York Fashion Week is in tune and on the 7th of September the Jill Stuart spring/summer 2014 collection was on stage. During her interview backstage Jill said that she was inspired for her collection from rock stars’ girlfriends from the seventies, about whom she had been thinking long while vacationing in a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea, Patmos this summer. As a result, the Jill Stuart woman represents a mix between a bohemian romantic and a tough rocker, who loves to experiment with her styling.
Yes, quite difficult to believe that the murmur of tropical sea waves could take someone to the ‘70s rock-life. It happened, and a pretty attractive Jill Stuart spring/summer 2014 collection was created.
However strange it may seem, we can find only two models wearing pants in this collection. The first model maybe is the rock-star’s girlfriend that Jill meant: tight leather trousers synthetized with black wide-shouldered shirt, pinned with golden trims. The second look represents a pair of classic black pants combined with a gauzy shirt and a white jacket worn over it – an elegant combination for a city woman.
The other models of the Jill Stuart spring/summer 2014 rtw show were mostly wearing dresses, skirts or bikini pants. The dresses make the impression of pretty cocktail-party characters, in mild and soft tones. Here the author used delicate eyelet lace and organza. Of course, the black color and the denim-like crop tops distract the whole image of a pretty girlfriend, deviating to a free girl’s character, ready to run into the sea. However, the prevailing white and beige lace with flowery print accomplishes the line of romantic dresses in a rocky mood.
Embroidered caftans and striped pullovers tossed over bikinis emphasize the free willpower of a ‘70s rock star’s naughty girlfriend. The overall image of the Jill Stuart spring/summer 2014 collection is a presentation of contemporary beachside city girls’ fashion wear, a bit saucy and, at the same time, feminine.
