John Richmond Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – Milan Fashion Week

For their fall 2015 fashion lines the majority of the designers placed the focus on warmth, comfort and functionality, bringing designs that never lack elegance and luxury in their simplicity. Still, there are also fashion houses that decided to go for a big dose of sexiness and party glamour, among them also being Italy-based English fashion designer John Richmond. “An undercurrent of exoticism and sexual adventure” is his definition of the latest John Richmond fall/winter 2015-2016 collection that brought an air of glam-rock allure to Milan Fashion Week today. Drenched in boldness and a rock ‘n’ roll attitude, it celebrates diversity through designs that put the focus on the bare leggy legs of the models, form-fitting mini leather dresses, but also subtle military influences and romantic femininity brought to life through the array of evening dresses unveiled at the end of the show.

If we were to find a single word to define the overall mood and style of the John Richmond fall/winter 2015-2016 collection, it would be diversity. It brings both understated elegant designs and sexy rock references, eye-feasting patterns and simplistic monochrome looks, dark colors and soft notes of brights. It unites the sophisticated with the seductive, the romantic with the futuristic, this way targeting a big army of fashion-forward women who love to look a million bucks wherever they go. Whether you are getting ready for a party with friends or just need to bring freshness to your office wardrobe, John Richmond has all your style cravings covered for fall, also not forgetting about powerful details and accessories that can elevate your fall looks.

The show started with a fierce mood bringing head-to-toe zebra-printed looks, styled with peep-toe lace-up ankle booties on heels. While the first looks were about black-and-white zebra prints, the following ones looked even edgier featuring shades of red and black, as well as big proportions of fur used for the cropped jackets. The show then suddenly veered into monochrome all-black looks, which were showing interesting textural plays by combining see-through fabrics either with black leather or fur. Think leather miniskirts and tight pants, fur vests and cropped jackets, sexy skirt suits, zip-adorned pants and little black dresses matched with biker jackets. We also saw unexpected casual style interpretations, from the sporty pants matched with a classic blazer to the khaki parka jackets worn with thigh-high suede boots.

As the show started to develop, we were treated to more feminine party ensembles, which you can easily take from fall to summer. Black is the protagonist color here as well, although we also saw some imaginative patterns embellishing the tops, dresses and the flowing kimono. Utilizing cut-outs, high slits, embroidery, hand-sewn sequins and see-through fabrics, the designer managed to inject glamour and extravaganza to his eveningwear designs. Bright and bold florals also made an appearance at the finale, looking particularly beautiful in combination with those blacks and deep blues.

From exuberant tulle dresses and sequined party looks to sexy bustiers, rain coats, skirts and leather jackets, the John Richmond fall/winter 2015-2016 collection has every clothing item you’ll need to completely update your fall wardrobe. You’re sure to find at least one or two favorites in this collection worth investing in!
