With every crack of dawn the fashion world enjoys someone special trying her wings in the industry and becoming just another beguiling figure to marvel at. And today is no different – Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber lands a new fashion campaign since signing up with IMG Models last year. The 14-year-old auburn-haired sweet babe bringing forth the best illustration of Mummy and MiniMe wind along with her supermodel mom, is starring in Chrome Hearts’ spring/summer 2016 campaign that was shot last week but has made a foray into social media only today.
The LA based gothic biker-rock accessories brand, Chrome Hearts has become one of the favorite accessory purveyors among such figures as Cindy herself, Rihanna, Karl Lagerfeld, Kate Hudson and Lenny Kravitz. And now the king of leather and metallic heavy jewelry is to become that very xanadu for the rising model Kaia Gerber and interestingly enough her debut is being just in phase with the rumors circulating that Cindy Crawford is retiring soon starting from February 20, on her 50th birthday. Though the iconic supermodel denied it afterwards in her Instagram account and we are able to breathe easily again, she can undeniably take that step when time is ripe, since she has that worthy legatee following her, for sure.
The campaign, shot in New York on a Manhattan street and inside an unfinished room — part of one of Chrome Hearts’ six boutiques in the US, is bringing to our view a smattering of photoshoots with amazing Kaia posing in a long black leather trench coat with a thick buckled belt cinched around the waist and legs showing off sensually, while in another one she is quite unexpectedly all wrapped with blue hosepipe. But leave it to those offbeat round sunglasses to flabbergast all and sundry, the lenses of which imitate gothic crosses and the auburn shade is just in keeping with Kaia’s lush hair.
Just a glance to the images and you will perceive instantly where the genes belong to. In fact, Chrome Hearts’ spring/summer 2016 campaign is not Kaia’s first experience. She has also posed for Teen Vogue and CR Fashion Book, while also becoming the face of the very first Young Versace ad at the age of 10.
Chrome Hearts co-founder Laurie Lynn Stark who photographed the campaign as well told CR Fashion Book: “What a privilege it has been to watch Kaia blossom into her own. Our families have been dear friends for so long so this was emotional for me—Kaia is an incredible talent, truly finding her own style as a model!” She is so much pumped about Kaia’s innate flair for modeling that has shared one of the campaign shoots in her Instagram account calling Kaia a ‘special beauty’ and then adding ‘I love youuuuuuu’.
It’s not difficult to guess at this juncture how proud the mother is of her talented daughter, who is following in her footsteps so triumphantly. The supermodel told the Evening Standard in that regard: “When people ask me about my daughter, I feel like I could guide her in the right direction because I was able to navigate it. You can, it is doable”.
