Kate Spade’s creative director Deborah Lloyd has just overwhelmed us with an array of easy-breezy, preppy styles unveiling her Kate Spade pre-fall 2016 collection. The collection mostly features Fifties/ early Sixties inspired pieces that will literally make anyone feel like dancing with John Travolta in Grease.
As usual, Kate Spade puts a lot of emphasis on the accessories, designing some jocose fruity clutches for the pre-fall season that add more brightness and charm to the feminine looks. Lloyd particularly enjoys Spade’s cheerful policy about fashion, translating it into a quirky and unexpected line-up filled with super wearable and versatile pieces.
The Kate Spade pre-fall 2016 collection might be divided into three sections, wherein the biker jacket combined with a pair of cropped ankle jeans, made in collaboration with Raleigh, stands out as the solo boyfriend-inspired outfit. The entire collection is, in fact, all about girly girls, adding a more casual and funny attitude to what is conventionally regarded as feminine.
In the first part of the collection, Lloyd took the floral motif and took it to a whole new level, alternating some A-line and trapeze knee-length dresses with just a few embroidered flowers patterns, with some head-to-toe floral looks with a burst of color adorning the maxi dresses that come with a comfy elasticized waist, suits and oversized tunics. If the upcoming pre-fall season had a nickname, it would be Spade.
For the second part of the line-up Lloyd got inspired by the Fifties/ Sixties motifs, particularly putting the focus on stripes and checkered patterns. Sundresses, peplum shirts and oversized shirts have been paired with delicate flats and cat-eyed sunglasses that together give a fancy casual-chic attitude to the overall collection.
This selection of clothing pieces acts as a sort of precursor for the collection’s last theme, wherein elegance definitely rules the roost. Solid-colored mini dresses, summer maxi dresses in light pink and even a sensual long black dress adorned with lace embroideries on the neckline are the most elegant pieces within the collection perfect to wear to any formal event, from cocktail parties to wedding ceremonies.
There’s another great protagonist in this line-up, being the designer’s fun and flirty iconic handbags. Spade’s accessory collection reaffirms the brand’s easygoing attitude, giving us the chance to celebrate our inner playful self, pairing a sophisticated cocktail dress with a fun palm leaf-shaped clutch, for instance. Most of the handbag designs actually play with exotic and tropical motifs, featuring fruity and animal embellishments. There’s even a ship-shaped clutch, which playfully recalls the Sixties motifs, being a statement-making piece to wear to fashion week shows for making heads turn on the streets.
When it comes to the most elegant and versatile accessories, the Kate Spade pre-fall 2016 collection treats us to solid-colored mini bags and clutches, making it possible for those who are looking for a more conventionally sophisticated type of purse to fall in love, too.
