Kate Spade Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – New York Fashion Week

Being one of the most sough-after brands, Kate Spade New York is simple and bright, chic and neat. Be it a Kate Spade mini dress with rainbow prints, a pair of sunglasses or a handbag, the brand is a must-have for any fashioniser. Today the label’s main focus is on handbags and it’s hardly surprising that the first fashion pieces that Kate started to design were handbags. “How about [designing] handbags? You love them.” Kate recalls her husband’s, Andy Spade’s words. And that is how it all began.
What can we say about Mrs. Spade’s style and our expectations of the brand-new Kate Spade spring/summer 2015 collection presented in the framework of this year’s NYFW? Well, one thing’s for certain: Spade’s style and the clothes she designs are universal: you can wear Kate Spade outfits and accessories when taking a relaxed stroll in the streets of a big city, when going to a friend’s birthday party or when attending a more formal event. Kate loves to experiment with styles by pairing the classical with the modern – we have seen her pair tweed handbags with diamond buckles, for instance. The designer believes that such accessories will give any woman some sense of individuality, she will start feeling creative and very much at ease, she will be willing to take risks.

“This season I’m loving the natural patterns that occur in nature; the reflections in a pool, the shadow of florals and the texture of leaves”, this is what Deborah Lloyd, president and creative director of Kate Spade New York had to say about the inspiration behind the Kate Spade spring/summer 2015 collection. There is so much to tell about this collection! We got to admit that it was just a pure joy to watch the models show off the most extravagant dresses, shorts and pants paired with the most fun-tastic of handbags and clutches.
The Kate Spade spring/summer 2015 collection was an obvious nod to the ‘60s; it was playful and original. The color palette went from simple black and white to red, then to beige, green, blue and finally, to a mixture of them all. We saw an avalanche of stripes and floral patterns on dresses and handbags, panama hats and white-framed sunglasses. The outfits were alluring; they looked effortless but exquisitely detailed. Big floral prints and bow ties around necklines of the dresses oozed elegance and femininity. The range of dresses went from cotton sundresses to more formal ones and to race wear.

And those handbags? They were to die for! We want them, every single one of them! There’s something for everybody. Are you feeling romantic? If yes, you should totally go for those huge heart-shaped handbags or clutches that say “Kiss”. If you are an animal lover, you can choose from crab, frog, fish or snail-shaped bags. Or how about sporting a little house-shaped handbag made of straws saying “No vacancy” and letting everyone know that your heart is already taken? With sprinkle-shaped handbags and bags looking like flower pots you are sure to be at the centre of everyone’s attention. If you, however, prefer simpler things, then the Kate Spade spring/summer 2015 collection offers you bags and clutches of all sizes and colors, which are by no means less extravagant!
