Kitx Resort 2018 Collection

One of the most recognized Australian designers, Kit Willow presented her 2018 Resort Collection at the Mercedes-Benz 2017 Fashion Week. The spectacular show reminded the audience why Kit’s designs are loved by so many celebrities.

Willow, famous for her love of nature and eco-friendly designs, held her latest show on Wednesday evening in a warehouse space in Sydney. The designer stayed loyal to her cause by implementing sustainable and ethically sourced materials in her line. The notes for the show included a quote from the American writer and filmmaker Susan Sontag, that said: “Nature has ceased to be what it always had been – what people needed protection from. Now nature – tamed, endangered, mortal – needs to be protected from people.”

This year she presented a darker, edgier collection, compared to what we remember from last year. The black color dominated in her designs. Additionally, the colors that everyone seems to love this season: white, yellow, orange and petrol blue were also present in the collection. The pieces that stole the show were the sheer, transparent shirts that had the words “Rights of Nature” and “Truth” printed on the front.

Fabrics were all light and flowy, giving an impression that everything is very pleasant and comfortable to wear. The unconventional sleeves were another detail that got a lot of the attention. Kit designed sleeves that are cut open with a knot in the middle. Dresses amazed the audience with their asymmetry and knots, especially the ones with one sleeve. The belts on most of the pieces gave a very chic and sophisticated look. The models walked the concrete runway with a great speed and confidence and made the whole atmosphere even more authentic. In general, the designs are suitable for any age and occasion.

Willow created the brand two years ago. After the unpleasant events in 2013, when she was fired from the fashion house that carries her name, she found the strength to start again. Last season she impressed everyone with the first collection of Kitx, and this year she amazed the Australian fashion audience again. She stays faithful to her beliefs and love towards nature.

‘We create product love with high-frequency wear, superior quality, and creative design while consciously sourcing materials that minimize harm to our planet’s precious resources. I strongly believe in a better world, through the simple mantra of making women look and feel beautiful, without harming our planet, so everyone can win’-Willow stated.
