Black, red, blue, white and nude. Those are the main colors of the La Perla spring/summer 2016 collection, the delicacy and elegance of which will surely charm and surprise many of you. Founded by corset-maker Ada Masotti in 1954, La Perla is an Italian clothing fashion house specializing in lingerie. Famous for its women’s beachwear and loungewear, since June 2014 La Perla has an equally interesting menswear’s clothing line, whereas since January 2015 it has been officially rocking its Atelier Couture collection.
As for the main style of the La Perla SS 2016 collection, it is so ethereal it becomes almost magical with its exotic animal motifs that, in disguise, pretend to be fantastic creatures from a (not so far away) magical world. While colorful peacocks have their time on many loungewear pieces, lace and see-though fabrics become protagonists when it comes to lingerie, which is indeed going to be beyond sensual, next season.
Chantilly lace embroidery designs (both black and white) gently caress the skin, and are from time to time interrupted by silky belts, buckles and ribbons. Macrame and rebrodé embroidery designs look like permanent tattoos on the models’ bodies, and adorn almost each piece of the collection, from cardigans to bras, from skirts to vests and undershirts. Microscopic circles geometrically bedeck clothes made of tulle, almost looking like new contemporary versions of animal prints.
When it comes to the chic lingerie showcased, the La Perla spring 2016 collection astonish us with longline balconette bras, black lace stockings, as well as bras and panties set over white tank tops. Bordeaux, black and beige bandeaus with geometric patterns and see-through nightgown make everything look effortlessly chic, and reminds us of La Perla’s first clothing lines. Romantic bras combined with pajama trousers show a self-confident and independent woman, who is not afraid to always feel comfortable and sexy at the same time.
Contemporary and modern lines break this ethereal spell, bringing us back to reality thanks to La Perla’s comfy loungewear, which is made of striped pajama pants, silky shirts and slip-dresses, the sensual back lace panels of which give the collection its confident look. White pants and pink dresses keep the casual flag flying high, and tickle our fancy. Anyways, the most stylish and versatile piece of clothing is La Perla’s notorious bodysuit.
Worn either with silk boxers, jackets, pants or skirts, each bodysuit seems to transcend its original purpose, becoming our best fashion passe-partout piece to be unconventionally shown off at all our future events. Embellished with strategic cut-outs, sequins, lace and layers, each bodysuit is anything but boring and reminds us that, after all, fashion is about creativity and jocundity.
Since June 2014 La Perla has been breaking off its tradition, giving us new and revolutionized lingerie lines which, despite the undeniable men’s wear influence, still manage to strike a good balance between tradition and modernity. This is absolutely true about the brand’s spring line-up as well.
