LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection – NYFW

More or less eight months of work and the amazing talent of Lauren Conrad resulted in the springiest collection ever that was unveiled at the New York Fashion Week on Wednesday night. Though being Conrad’s first outing, the limited edition LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s spring/summer 2016 collection was enough to draw the attention of fashion enthusiasts all over the world. Conrad herself was very contented with the runway show. “The LC Runway show may have come and gone in the blink of an eye but I am still floating on cloud nine!” she expressed her emotions on her personal blog after the show. By the way, those who are already in search of this or that item from the collection are lucky enough to find some pieces already available for purchase at Kohl’s stores. Despite the collection having got unveiled during the fashion week (you expect super-expensive pieces, right?), the prices range between $12 and $300.

What regards the style of the designs, Conrad and her team were inspired by an enchanted forest theme. No wonder, the whole collection is saturated with romance and femininity. The models of the runway show resembled forest fairies with super natural loose updo hairstyles and makeup. The romantic mood was also expressed through the use of a soft color palette comprising lots of crisp whites and pastel tones and enriched with rich burgundies and sapphire blues mainly used for the vintage-inspired velvet pieces. Pretty 3D appliqués reminiscent of flowers, lots of organza and feathery motifs injected a breezy and ethereal air into the designs, and the same can be said about the lace, pretty ruffles and fluid silhouettes providing so much movement to the pieces.

Some pieces of the collection, such as tulle and sequin dresses, tops with macramé and high-waisted velvet shorts and skirts were entirely influenced by Lauren’s favorite vintage style. Some of the most noteworthy pieces unveiled are the romantic white dresses with lace hems and sleeves and a Greek Goddess themed dress with narrow pleats. There was also place for high-waisted pants with wide legs, strapless maxi dresses with sweetheart necklines, lace shorts teamed with semi-transparent or macramé tops, classic yet interesting white shirts, cocktail dresses and much more. The focal point of the collection was the tiny flower print on the adorable maxi dresses and skirts that symbolized spring in such a romantic way. Special attention should also be paid to the rich blue velvet top matched with a powdery organza skirt and feminine kitten heels, which will highlight the image of a spring girl.

The maxi cardigans, jumpsuits, little flat shoes and skirts with foam-like hems are a real dream for girls and those women, who are more into a sophisticated, girly style. There were also a couple of light coats showcased in order to provide warmth and comfort on the transitional days of spring, though most items of the collection tenderly whispered about the sunny and loving spring only.

Overall, the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s spring 2016 collection is all about details, because what really lures is not just the shapes and materials used, but the tiny prints, accessories and elements that bring forth a fantastic bunch of associations connected with spring, love and romance.
