Zara’s Little Sister Lefties Goes Bohemian In Spring 2016

After raising controversy and subsequently revamping its image, Zara’s little sister Lefties is finally speaking up for itself, releasing some cool budget-friendly lineups that are slowly gaining a growing consensus among the many Inditex followers. For this forthcoming spring 2016, Lefties goes Bohemian, channeling some Seventies-inspired outfits that are just perfect for the warmer seasons.

Lefties Spring 2016 Collection

For those who are not familiar with Lefties (most of the label’s aficionados are located in Spain and Portugual, where Lefties stores began opening in 1993), the name of Zara’s little sister brand actually derives from ‘leftovers’, as this fast-fashion chain of Inditex was initially launched to help shift Zara’s last-season excess stock at incredibly discounted prices. As the years passed by, Lefties began growing out its unique personality, becoming now one of the serious competitors to other budget-friendly retailers, such as H&M and Primark.

It took Inditex about a grand ten-year-long process and a lot of hard-work to transform little Lefties from its initial purpose to a brand in its own right, and things became eventually even more serious when, starting from August last year, the label not only launched a brand new website (it finally lets purchase the collections’ items online too), but revamped most of its shops and prepared itself for officially taking over the world (Lefties began its international expansion in Russia, where it has opened three shops).

Now that the Lefties spring 2016 collection is finally available, we could rightly state that such efforts are bearing fruits. Overall, the lineup’s color palette is strict to earth tones and whites, interrupting such an ethereal array of hues only to showcase some geometrical patterns, gray total looks and bold orange frocks. Such a choice definitely shifts Lefties’ hippie twist to a more boho-chic allure, making it possible for those who are more into the Nineties grunge style or like to sport casual-chic looks, to find something suitable to wear too.

Maxi cardigans, cropped blazers and rounded shoulder bags definitely are the lineup’s key pieces, and reinforce not only Lefties’ vintage vibes but also celebrate the Native American culture. Exquisitely beaded, the geometrical patterns accentuate the collection’s willingness to put forward the label’s new image, giving us some fancy (and budget-friendly, don’t forget it! Lefties’ prices are normally three times cheaper than Zara’s) outfits to choose from.

Oversized tunics make their appearance too, getting combined either with denim white pants or fresh short shorts. Roomy trousers and curve flattering overalls are to be found in the collection too, although not being as interesting as the must-have chunky sandals and sophisticated midi dresses. And lastly, if you waved last spring goodbye without trying out the thin scarf-trend, Lefties is here to give you another opportunity; make sure not to miss it!

Lefties is definitely conquering the world slowly, and watching this brand evolve from a Plain Jane to a ‘full-loaded’ cosmopolitan fashionista will be an appealing process.
