Within the latest two years Jason Wu has constantly been on a hunt for new model muses taking them to the best places to dine in New York and always asking Inez & Vinoodh to capture the moments, where he personally was always involved. From Stephanie Seymour and Karen Elson to Christy Turlington Burns, Adriana Lima and Karlie Kloss, they all have inspired Wu at some point appearing in the designer’s luxury ad campaigns. Apart from designing breathtaking garments and taking the runway by storm at the fashion week each time, Wu’s creative process seems to involve also finding the right person to reflect the mood of that season and to wear the right looks to transmit all the power and message behind a certain collection. He has always taken into account his personal relationships with the models he has tapped for his ad campaigns. This time around, it’s Polish stunner Malgosia Bela fronting the Jason Wu fall 2015 ad campaign, which is as elegant and positively ravishing as expected.
While all the recent five ads of the “Series 1” campaign (this is how the designer himself names the latest five shoots) revolved around a single idea, this new Jason Wu fall 2015 campaign shows a new concept, a new formula, which is equally successful. With the concept evolving, the eatery backdrop has been replaced by Baccarat Hotel, where Malgosia Bela poses seductively donning a V-neck black jumpsuit styled with a fur stole and a pair of black pumps in one of the images and a pair of khaki tailored pants matched with an elegant khaki blouse and a black bag in the other. French actress Catherine Deneuve has served as the perfect inspiration for the designer to create this image, but also his entire fall collection, and apparently Wu closely associated it with none other than Malgosia Bela, who manages to transform that sex appeal, refinement and luxury all in the same package.
Wu’s idea of creating the “Series 1” started quite organically, when he first partnered with Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to shoot his summer 2013 campaign. While they never had the intention to turn it into a series, they aimed at creating something that could feel and look different than an ordinary campaign and that would tell a story. As a result, Wu enlisted his long-time muse Stephanie Seymour to present his summer 2013 designs, someone who he himself idolized when being younger. He then continued in the same spirit, as a result of which we’ve got a series of ad campaigns that are totally different from what we have always expected from a brand.
Apparently, Wu pays utmost attention to his model muses, as he always looks for a personality rather than a beautiful face and a perfect body to don his creations. He talks to the models and tries to find someone he truly can relate to, someone he has been in a relationship with. And since he’s of the idea that all models are essentially muses, he always succeeds in finding the right person, who could wear the right Jason Wu pieces. The same can be said about Malgosia Bela, who makes us truly and really fall in love with his fall designs.
