Spanish label Mango has just released its spring/summer 2015 collection and we are looking at the 1970s meets the new millennium. Model Anna Ewers will be the main focus of the Mango spring/summer 2015 campaign, having been named the new face of Mango and following in the footsteps of Daria Werbowy, Penelope Cruz and Miranda Kerr. Along with the ‘70s inspirations, there’s a certain bohemian vibe that’s been taking over the runway of late. Bermuda shorts, kaftans, long blazers and midi-skirts are all highlights of the latest Mango spring/summer 2015 collection that will be bringing retro to chic modern designs. We are looking at a certain elegant ease this upcoming spring and it’s quite a relief from some of the past fashion trends where comfort was sacrificed for the sake of style.
We’ll be seeing much in terms of large polka-dotted shirts and striped high waist midi skirts. Actually we know we’re definitely going to be seeing the midi skirt around a lot, the hem placed between just above the knee and mid-calf. A sweater and comfortable sneakers give the look a warmer, more casual chic style that we haven’t seen in a while. The sneakers have moved from the fall fashions to the spring with ease and we are looking forward to enjoying being able to walk, run, jump and move any which way we wish without the hassle of heels.
There’s something really intriguing about combining gladiator sandals with loose Capri pants and a crisp white mid-sleeve shirt. The accessories with ruffles and funky designs add some fun to the otherwise casually chic look, meaning we can look good and show off some personal style while at it.
We know we really missed these wraparound looks and are quite excited to begin wearing them once again! They are longer now than the way they looked the last time around a few years ago, and contrasting belt colours add to the appeal. Wide pant legs are certainly easier to get around in but the length of this one is curious. We might want to get it hemmed a bit so we can walk without wearing out the edges. A large handbag completes the look while dark sunglasses have you looking mysteriously sophisticated.
Short kaftans with short sleeves and high collar, buttoning down to the chest, are intriguing light pieces of clothing that we can don casually and walk out the door. Nothing luxurious in the look but that’s the point. Low heels on open toe bold sandals also add to the comfort of the ensemble, while a cute little bag in multiple colours adds a splash of individuality to the look.
You need not fear the stripes this season. Actually, you should learn to find the right striped look for you that won’t add inches to your waist. A midi dress with half sleeves and bold stripes combined with white sneakers and a large white handbag looks pretty good, actually. All you need is to leave your hair in boho waves or get a cute shorter cut, add some fun sunglasses and head out that door.
Talking about midi looks, pencil skirts reaching the knee with high waists are so in, especially in funky colors like red, combined with big bold stripes in red and pink hues. It’s a casual look made unique, while white sneakers and a matching or contrasting little bag are all the accessories you may need. Other than sunglasses, of course.
If you thought denim on denim was a fashion faux pas, think again. Instead, you may want to grab denim jeans with flared bottoms while adding a denim shirt in a darker wash, add a brown belt and feel the cowgirl in you spring to action. It’s a gorgeous look and we’re definitely glad to see it back in style! Just make sure that you are mixing up the denim washes or else a monochromatic design may not look as lovely.
We also have fringes back this year, though the Pocahontas looks with the longer hem may not be the most attractive. Then again, just like beer is an acquired taste, this may be one as well. Shapeless brown dresses with gladiator sandals just remind us of roman peasantry. It will be curious to see how this plays out over the next season, though!
