Designers are at the top of their game this year! Every spring/summer collection presented at New York Fashion Week 2015 just keeps on exceeding our expectations. All collections are just a pure delight to watch! And the Mara Hoffman spring/summer 2015 collection was no exception: we loved the show and the outfits to bits! Mara has always been an ethnic prints zealot and her collections never lacked rich colors. And that is exactly what today’s show brought to us. It was all about color, although the colors appeared to be softer and we may even say, paler, this time. If you are wondering why, this is what Mara had to say about the change: “It was the natural next step for me and also a reminder to our consumer to take a breath. I really wanted this collection to balance out the rest and speak to the evolution that the brand is currently going through”.
The first looks on the runway were simple and minimal. The first few outfits consisted in dresses and wide legged pants in white and green, particularly we had green agave print on white background. The outfits were complemented with matching caps and at the end of the show, Mara and ever her adorable daughter appeared on the catwalk in outfits bearing the same print. Next on the catwalk were white flowing maxi dresses with small colorful prints that resembled freely flying birds (maybe a hidden message to all the women out there?) and small squares. The second part of the show started with a parade of ethnically loaded summertime looks streaming down the runway. The models were wearing spagetti strap maxi dresses with rainbow prints up front, sleeveless figure-hugging dresses with open backs, oversized shirts worn over wide-legged trousers and so on.
And the swimwear! Of course! We can’t imagine a Mara Hoffman collection without her iconic hippy swimsuits and bikinis, can we? The swimwear was just utterly breathtaking, it was so colorful and positive that it made us miss summer which has been gone only for some 5-6 days. Unlike Mara’s previous collections, this one featured mainly high waisted bikini bottoms and well covering bikini tops. A piece of swimwear we found quite interesting was a swimsuit that embodied the whole concept of summer in it. With prints resembling ocean, sun and rays, it reminded us why we love that time of year so much.
We have to admit: Mara Hoffman is just one of a kind. There’s nobody like her. She just has a genius of dressing women the way no one else can. It is impossible to just choose and set on just one of Mara Hoffman pieces and there was not a single piece in the Mara Hoffman spring/summer 2015 collection show we would refuse to wear. They were just all so beautiful and comfortable. “When you feel comfy and beautiful, you look comfy and beautiful”, thinks Mara. Our grade? A big, fat A+! Way to go Mara!
