The fashion world seems to be shocked. The protagonist of all this mess around is none other than extravagant and playing-out-of-any-stereotypes American fashion designer Marc Jacobs, the recipient of numerous CFDA awards, the holder of Order of Arts and Letter, the founder and the art director of the luxury Marc Jacobs brand. Actually, we may stop here otherwise the list can be continued endlessly. So what has done Marc Jacobs this time around you may ask? Nothing special, he is just planning the absolutely grandiose Marc Jacobs fall 2015 fashion show party that will be thrown later in September. Everything would have sounded quite normal if not the text of his invitation about the party dress code, which, by the way, has been already sent to a few fashion icons around the world. The invitation comes to have been written all in capital letters as if to emphasize its strict requirements. Just read it to keep your mood fresh and get to know Jacob’s insane spirit:
“STRICT DRESS TO KILL CODE WILL BE ENFORCED: FUR COATS OVER LINGERIE, LIP GLOSS, JERRY HALL SIDE-SWEPT HAIR, SEQUINS, GOLD LAMÉ TURBANS, PATTI HEARST SYMBIONESE LIBERATION ARMY GEAR, ROGUE, ROLLERINA CHIC, SHEER HAREM PANTS, MINI SKIRTS AND MUSCULAR LEGS, PLATINUM RECORDS AS HEAD GEAR, SEQUINS, GRACE JONES BUTCH REALNESS, GLOSSY SKIN, BLEACHED EYEBROWS, SLITS, RIDING IN ON A WHITE HORSE, SEQUINS, SKY HIGH STILETTOS, MIRRORED AVIATORS, METAL MESH, COWL NECKLINE HALTERS, OR EYES OF LAURA MARS CHIC. NO FLAT SHOES. NO MATTE SURFACES. NO NATURAL LOOKS.”
Actually, the party is being organized not only for the fashion show. We all remember ‘70s photo legend Chris Von Wangenheim, whose great works and their inspirational histories are dramatically expressed in a monograph entitled “Gloss”, a book to be released during the party. The fact actually explains Jacob’s odd stance about the party dress code.
The upcoming Marc Jacobs fall 2015 party is going to be all about chic, extravagance, gloss and luster here and there. What we observe here is a real embodiment of disco style, so popular among the young at the end of the ‘70s. Despite the intriguing and audacious clothing styles that Jacobs requires the guests to wear – fur coats over lingerie, army gear, sheer harem pants, cowl neckline halters – we face a range of crazy makeup touches, hairstyles and accessories as well. Some out-of-order solutions can potentially blow our minds. Just imagine a fashion icon with a platinum record on his head or a classic fashion lady with Laura Mars terrific eyes. Shocking news does not end here: guests should ride in on a white horse. The party seems to turn into a field of herds. Jacobs strictly bans using flat shoes, matte surface and natural looks during his party. The prohibition of flat shoes is a little bit bizarre since the fashion designer has included some flat shoes in his resort 2016 collection. If you are an active fashioniser, who has even a slight hope to be invited to Marc Jacob’s fashion show party, arm yourself with the most glittering things possible.
Hosted by Marc Jacobs himself and sponsored by Bookmarc, the party will take place at a popular ‘80s nightclub, Tunnel, though the date of the party is not yet known.
