One of the top models in the world, Jourdan Dunn is apparently also a designer for children’s clothing. The gorgeous woman knows how to take on the fashion industry, while shining bright along with some of the other top stars at galas and parties and more. The British supermodel, Jourdan Sherise Dunn by given name, is launching a kids collection inspired by her own son, who also happens to model for the line. The 25-year-old fledgling designer is teaming up with Marks & Spencer and we are excited to check out what she has in store for us.
She was discovered in 2006 and began appearing for international runways from 2007 onwards, marking the launch of quite the career. We are excited to see where she ends up taking her inspirations and love of fashion.
Last year she revealed that she would be designing, but it was only yesterday, through an Instagram post, that the collaboration with Marks & Spencer was stated. The collection is to have 22 pieces and will become available come the month of April of this year, so we can be sure to be checking out our local retailers for the cute looks.
The pieces will be for children between the ages of 5 and 16, and expected to have a super urban feel. From the teaser photo, it appears that there will be t-shirts that have LonDunn emblazoned over the chest, along with some cool pants and lace + Velcro shoes. The collection is known as Lil’ LonDunn and that is how the supermodel has been hashtagging it as well. We can almost feel her excitement through the photo showing her in a fun matching outfit with her son, smiling bright and happy.
“I’ve been a big fan of M&S since I was young and have fond memories of visiting our local store with my mum as a kid,” Dunn explained. “My collection is inspired by London and has the cool, urban vibe that I look for when choosing clothes for Riley. It has been an absolute pleasure to work on this project with such a big British retailer, and I can’t wait to see the clothes on Riley and all his friends.”
There is another reason to shop the brand as well. Since Dunn’s little one has sickle-cell anemia blood disorder, this particular bit of her work is to help raise awareness about the sickness in of itself. “It’s something people don’t really know about, due to the fact it’s genetic, so it doesn’t have the high profile of HIV or malaria,” she has mentioned in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK. “Riley looks just like a normal boy, but I can’t get away from the fact he has a serious disease.”
As such, we can expect a lot more people to know about the supermodel’s own battles, seeing her as more human, like the rest of us, instead of a top notch celebrity. We love Dunn for everything she has been doing and look forward to shopping Lil’ LonDunn.
