Mary Katrantzou Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – London Fashion Week

Today’s much-anticipated Mary Katrantzou spring/summer 2015 collection has just been demonstrated at London Fashion Week, capturing everyone’s hearts instantly with its splendor and the mystic mood. For her sizzling spring line, the talented Greek designer looked to “Pangaea and Panthalassa and the metamorphosis of its elements…” for inspiration, giving birth to outworldly designs abundant in creative cuts and transparency inserts, glittery hues, mesmerizing textures, prints and patterns. Mary Katrantzou loves prints and creative design solutions and she always shows a wonderful play of intricate beadwork, appliqués and various clashing fabrics, putting them together like a pro and always coming up with the unimagined and ethereal. This is so true about the Mary Katrantzou spring 2015 ready to wear fashion line too!

The models at the Mary Katrantzou spring 2015 rtw show were like goddesses from another world, wearing their “national costumes”, which any lady from our world would love to acquire. The show started with a romantic and utterly girly mood (it’s so Mary Katrantzou!) flooding the catwalk with ethereal cocktail dresses in mini lengths, all featuring tons of glittery lace, delicately pleated chiffon, satin embellished with lace appliqués and crochet, put in the colors of navy blue, khaki, baby blue, deep gray and nude. A curious blue dress featured small front buttons reaching the hemline and an uber-deep V-cut revealing a printed bra top worn underneath (so wanna-have!!!)
Next we saw Mary Katrantzou’s signature bright shades and curious prints applied to the dresses like lace appliqués. A light blue dress with wavy black lace hemlines featured an absolutely sick design: the top of it was see-through covered with interesting lace appliqués featuring a chameleon-like creature with human legs (you were to look at this dress for a couple of minutes to understand its essence). The same pattern was applied on the middle part of another gorgeous mini dress coming in white. There were lots of see-through dresses, all of which were embellished with opulent lacework that looked like mosaic paintings.

The finale of the show brought stunning eveningwear rich in transparency plays combined with brightly patterned fabrics in a geometric form. A couple of pairs of elegant tailored trousers came matched with tops in the same see-through designs; one of these looks was topped with a long floor-length sleeveless trench in the color and fabric blocking style.
No less spectacular were the footwear options, being mainly heels coming in various bright shades and with one-of-a-kind designs! The models makeup was nude and the hair was natural, this way placing the entire focus on those mind-blowing and breathtaking dresses!
The Mary Katrantzou spring/summer 2015 collection show was an escape into an unknown world, called Pangaea, and now we certainly know how women dressed in this supercontinent. Thanks to the talented Greek designer, now we also have the chance to copy their iconic style in the modern world!
