If WWII retro is what you love, we certainly have a pleasant surprise for you! The Miu Miu spring/summer 2016 campaign has officially kicked off and it is positively sublime! The photography is impeccable, masterful with every shot of the lens by Steven Meisel, the actresses appearing before the camera being Millie Brady, Julia Garner, Matilda Lutz, and India Salvor Menuez. And boy do they look gorgeous.
While Millie is going to be appearing in a zombie version of Pride and Prejudice, along with a recreation of the King Arthur story in 2016 and 2017 respectively, Julia is an American actress only 21 years of age and already appeared in multiple top movies, including The Perks of Being a Wallflower, We Are What We Are, and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
Matilda Lutz is a 23-year-old Italian star who will be doing a reboot of the horror film The Ring, now to be known as Rings, while India Menuez is known for her 2012 and 2014 films, Something in the Air and Mall respectively. She has 4 films in 2016 alone! The appearance of these actresses, handpicked by Miuccia Prada herself, means that there are some big things coming up in their future, for it appears that a Miu Miu campaign is more of a rite of passage and can catapult an actress’ career in both artistic industries.
So what is it about the Miu Miu spring 2016 campaign that attracts us most? There is a certain olden charm to it all, a posh woman among the elements, the years having been kind on her skin and hair but not so much on her psychology, her eyes exuding such sadness, such depressed vehemence, all the while appearing positively gorgeous in the latest in Miu Miu clothing designs. The ladies depicted in the campaign images each have a distinct lifestyle, a specific set of needs and wants, and each appears to have experienced something brutal in her young lifetime.
We can see that while the youngest might have had a family who neglected her, others show signs of trouble in the household with husbands who care too little, who have been lost to war or who have merely left their wives gorgeous and wealthy widows, brokenhearted in the midst. This might be an overactive imagination talking, but that is what we see looking at the expressions on these ladies’ faces.
And who exactly is this collection meant for?
