The MM6 Maison Martin Margiela fall/winter 2015-2016 collection seems to be the logical continuation of the brand’s pre-fall 2015 lineup, quite often featuring the same colors and the comfy oversized silhouettes with a sporty chic spin. It’s actually the last collection unveiled not under the creative direction of John Galliano, the luxury brand’s new designer, who debuted his creations for the house during the haute couture fashion week not that long ago. So while we are looking forward to some changes and innovation in the upcoming season, when Mr. Galliano will present his own vision of the stylish Margiela woman, we surely love the polished, yet utterly comfortable clothing pieces we see in this collection. Promising to keep you warm throughout the cold months to come, it still manages to feature big proportions of chic and personality.
We can classify the entire MM6 Maison Martin Margiela fall/winter 2015-2016 collection into several subdivisions based on the color palette used and the overall style of the pieces. Thus, the first group of looks focuses on timeless blacks spiced up with salad green tones. Here we see a concentration on powerful outerwear options coming in the form of elongated coats and worn with salad green turtlenecks and chunky boots. The tea-length zip-up strapless dress looks so modern in combination with the green turtleneck accessorized with futuristic tight gloves in the same shade covering the entire length of the arms of the model. We see a beige version of the black belted coat as well, which is followed by a black jumpsuit worn with a waist-accentuating belt.
After the domination of black, we also discover metallic silver tones matched either with the same salad green or black, as well as eye-popping reds, followed by the timeless black and white combinations. Throughout the collection, the stress is placed on texture created through layering and piling pieces one upon another. This is the case about the zip-up dress worn with the turtleneck we mentioned above, or the zip-up knitted corset in red worn over the red form-fitting dress. The same elbow-length gloves come in the red tone in this look, perfectly blending in with the overall outfit and covering up lots of skin, leaving just the legs bare.
The collection also brings relaxed casual pieces, ranging from the oversized cropped jeans to cropped vests and jean jackets. The white jeans look so edgy thanks to the black velvet material used for the bell bottoms. The plastic bag inspired sleeveless top is completely out of this world, and we saw the same motif used as an accessorizing detail for the look featuring the same zip-up black strapless dress, this time worn with a red shirt.
From knit bra-tops to lingerie-style slip-dresses worn with perfectly tailored tuxedo jackets, from velvet to leather and from outerwear to modern dresses, the MM6 Maison Martin Margiela fall/winter 2015-2016 collection brings variety to the scene, playing with subtle edgy motifs and futuristic vibes that still look so wearable.
