Monique Lhuillier Fall/Winter 2013-2014 RTW – New York Fashion Week
Mon, February 11, 2013Fabulousness and ethereality have no boundaries for Monique Lhuillier, and the designer proves this over and over again with each fashion show presented. This year, she decided to paint one of the catwalks of New York Fashion Week in opulent emerald green tone and cast an array of breathtaking red-carpet worthy evening gowns and feminine dresses that are sure to make everyone’s jaws drop. The Monique Lhuillier fall/winter 2013-2014 collection is powdery, rich, elegant and ladylike and it has so many gorgeous stunners that we can safely say Monique Lhuillier dresses are going to capture the Oscars red carpet in a fortnight, on February 24.

The Monique Lhuillier fall/winter 2013-2014 show started with an array of crisp white knitted pieces and no one could ever guess that then rich jewel toned dresses are to come. From malachite greens and purples to passionate reds, burgundy, gold and black tones, the runway at Monique Lhuillier had absolutely all the eye-popping colors for one to instantly land in the spotlight. Malachite green was definitely the keyword for the collection, and as the designer reveals to Elle her choice of colors, it all started when she was looking at her malachite dress: “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have to put this in the collection!’ Then I decided to paint the [runway] backdrop that color because it feels so opulent and so inviting. And I wanted to build on that, so I added more jewel tones for the evening portion and, of course, black—because who doesn’t want to wear black in the fall? Then I wanted to create the absence of color in the beginning of the show, which is why I did all those winter whites,” she said.
The dresses of the Monique Lhuillier fall/winter 2013-2014 collection feature feathers, fur details, fabulous embroidery, delicate tulle and lace. The lace cigarette pant-gown hybrids with tulle details were definitely the innovation of the line, while shorter lace gowns in malachite green come to be new alternatives to ground-skimming evening gowns. Absolutely breathtaking was the red flowing gown with intricate silver embroidery on the upper part. The malachite green sleeveless gown with black ombre touches was also a big hit. It’s hard to mention one and ignore the rest, as each item in this collection deserves maximum attention.
Apart from the charming evening ready options, the Monique Lhuillier fall/winter 2013-2014 collection was also shining with its less formal outfits, including feminine dresses, draped blouses and printed coats. Overall, the Monique Lhuillier fall/winter 2013-2014 collection is love at first sight, so beware before taking a look at it!
