MSGM Pre-Fall 2016 Collection

His inspiration have often come from Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, and Walter Ambini, but it appears that for the MSGM pre-fall 2016 collection, Giorgetti has turned to Karl Lagerfeld’s earlier sketches of felines for Chloe, and some Fellini clowns. The fascination with circuses has given rise to a new collection of interesting creations, each piece molded with his own unique vision.

MSGM Pre-Fall 2016 Collection

Massimo Giorgetti, the founder of the MSGM brand, was born in Rimini in 1977. With fashion being an early passion, he brought to us the brand in 2008, after joining forces with Paolini Group. Overcoming the economic recession of the time, he really pushed forward and is quickly becoming a household name in the fashion business, intricately weaving in his love for indie music and contemporary art into designs, which have a unique taste and a truly individualistic approach.

We see ruching and ruffles in the MSGM pre-fall 2016 line, normally found on clown costumes, here playing a starring role without the excessiveness of it all, while frills adorned wide pants and we saw some interesting bomber jackets. Frills on footwear seem to also be a trend for 2016. We have some rather strange additions, such as bottle tops embellishing lapels that bring back the 1980s in our minds, while we see tulle skirts layered over pants and tops. There is a certain aspect of grunge added here, which is very much in line with the 2016 spring looks that have been quite popular on the Fashion Week runways.

There is a bit of sportswear to the collection and we are loving it. This includes silk tracksuits with quite a bit of daisy prints to mesh in a few different trends, while we also notice plisse skirts, loose dresses with running stripes added to them and some velour turtleneck pieces with acidic colors to mark their individuality.

The collection is for the more youthful at heart, without appearing at all too girly, harnessing the silliness that lies within each person and giving it an artistic air. We love the appearance of cats everywhere as well, which is sweet in many mays, the ruffled collars on the feline emblazoned black sweaters really getting to us.

Truth be told, among the 40 pieces in this line-up, few are actually wearable on a daily basis, but we might end up separating the skirts and the pants from each other and adding in some high collar floral print tops which look best tucked on, for a long and lean silhouette look that these pieces are getting at. There are a few plaid looks as well with colorful designs that once again work towards elongating the figure, including the neck and arms.

As for the footwear, aside from the frills, we also have a whole lot of prints and black and white pieces, other in optical illusion to a single white with black embellishments, easily bringing the focus up to the clothing worn. Long hems, long sleeves, high necks, long pants and all serve to create just the right combination for easiness on the eyes and intriguing allure.
