For the colorful, bright and wearable MSGM spring/summer 2015 collection, designer Massimo Giorgetti had looked to the famous novel by Jonathan Franzen “Freedom” for inspiration, which tells a story about a man that is obsessed by dying out sparrows. Consequently, we saw lots of “freedom” and sparrow motifs on these lovely clothing pieces, designed to make your day-to-day styling maximum chic and memorable. Staying true to the brand’s identity and ideology, the MSGM spring 2015 rtw collection still manages to bring something innovative and fresh to the fashion scene, new silhouettes aimed at giving birth to new experimental garments. Eventually, Milan Fashion Week spring 2015 saw an array of modern chic clothing pieces with a positive attitude this afternoon!
As natural as that may sound, the color palate of the MSGM spring/summer 2015 collection recalls the sparrow plumage, bringing shades of blue, yellow, orange and white. Still, we can also see lots of black notes, which is something unusual for MSGM, yet which manages to look absolutely stunning. While you may manage to find a couple of monochrome items in this collection, the focus is placed on heavy patterns, especially sparrow prints. We can also discover colorful stripes, lovely florals and text messages featuring “Freedom” on a couple of designs.
It’s not only the lively color and print usage that makes the MSGM spring/summer 2015 collection so special, but also the experiments with organza, feathers (we were head over heels with those colorful feathery shoes), an intricate beadwork put in colorful motifs, lace and wrapping techniques. Talking about the letter, we hould mention those innovative wrapped skirts and dresses, which looked totally fresh and creative.
The show opened with a lighter color palette, bringing white clothing pieces decorated with colorful sparrow prints. On some of the designs we saw oversized and cool sparrow patterns, while the rest of the looks featured tons of tiny sparrows in lovely shades. There were lots of dresses, skirt and top duos, tailored black pants worn with a structured crop top, a one-shoulder dress, eclectic blue lace dresses topped with organza tops that gave texture to the looks. As the show started to develop, we saw brighter shades, so characteristic of the MSGM style philosophy. The finale of the show was marked with sparrow-printed colorful chiffon gowns, which were again topped with organza shirts.
Colorful sunglasses, bags and uber-killer and one-of-a-kind feathered flats and heeled sandals perfectly finished off the looks, alongside the effortless chic updos of the models and the minimal makeup choices. The sparrow of the MSGM spring/summer 2015 collection is colorful, positive and free-spirited and so is the MSGM girl in the coming spring!
