Nicholas K Spring/Summer 2013 RTW – New York Fashion Week

Finally, the much anticipated New York Fashion Week (NYFW) started on September 6, 2012, bringing the newest dazzling creations of famous fashion designers and thus giving us a full insight into the upcoming fashion trends. Siblings Nicholas and Christopher Kunz were the first to showcase their SS 2013 collection and the beginning of the NYFW was remarkable with a tan desert storm feel that impressed the audience. The Nicholas K spring/summer 2013 collection takes us on an African Safari vacation with a range of deserts-inspired colors, lightweight knitwear and flowy underpinnings.

Nicholas K Spring/Summer 2013 RTW – New York Fashion Week
Nicholas K has been always famous for no ordinary, funky outfit suggestions and their upcoming season collection too managed to stick to the brand’s signature style. The collection is filled with unexpected fabric combinations, irregular silhouettes, yet the looks manage to be extremely wearable and practical. The designers stayed true to who they are and brought amazing proportions, perfectly layered looks, which were both relaxed and extremely aesthetic. Blending knitwear with ethereal fabrics, and leather with generic pieces, the designer duo managed to create a fantastic contrast, which looked so harmonious.

The African desert theme of the Nicholas K spring/summer 2013 collection is brought out thank to the presence of earthy shades, muted gray and tan printed caftans, accompanied by chunky knitwear in light blue and pure white. The looks were accessorized with head wraps that added a laid-back feel to the outfits. Then, the collection transitioned the models into bright Saharan princesses with the range of silky burnt tangerine dresses with asymmetrical designs. Denim jackets, harem-style pants, silk blouses with lots of draping and lightweight cargo jackets looked perfectly in tone with the overall desert atmosphere. The looks were finished off with spectacular oversized sunglasses, thin belts, strappy wedges right in tone with the outfits. At the end of the show, the designer duo showed up accompanied by a dog!
