Poca & Poca have released their fall/winter 2014-2015 collection and it’s surely as sweetly impressive as we expected. A young fashion brand founded by talented siblings Karolina and Wiktor Gniewek in Poland, the freshly creative designs are truly lovely to behold. Their passion for style is apparent, while the charming originality of the pieces is truly eye-catching.
According to the company page, it all started as a dream wherein the duo believed that all things could come true if only one put their heart and soul into its manifestation. Simple sophistication appears to be the aim of this young brand, wherein individuality is encouraged and style is uniquely whimsical. Between the bows and pleats, the ruffles and baby pink stitches, the feminine sweet nature is embodied in the makeup of these endearingly original designs. There truly seems to be a magical touch to it all, as if the designers aimed to recreate a fairy tale into each stitch and cloth, the fairy wand being the needle and thread that create a masterpiece for Cinderella to attend her first Ball.
The signature of the Poca & Poca finishing is quite simply the baby pink thread, which is used to highlight the craftsmanship of every piece of clothing, every dress and trouser available in the Poca & Poca fall/winter 2014-2015 collection. It is meant to show off the “charming and delicate nature of the POCA & POCA brand,” according to the website. Many of the dresses transport us back in time, into a land of princes and princesses, dragons and gallant duels. The fact that the tags themselves can be personalized in your name increases its value of attraction, promising the brand to be a unique gift like no other to mark one’s special days as unforgettable.
We find the Poca & Poca fall/winter 2014-2015 collection itself to be quite inspiring, but simply must point out what makes it perfectly uniquely splendid.
If we thought the 1980s were interesting with their puffy sleeves and intriguing fashion sense, we’re in for a pleasant surprise. Nearly half the Poca & Poca fall/winter 2014-2015 collection has puffy sleeves a signature part of the outfit presented. Yellow, black, pink, blue, patterned or not, these dresses simply would not be complete without those big puffy things encasing your shoulders. I think we kind of missed this particular style and were anxiously awaiting its comeback as well!
My gosh, those ruffles! We are not quite sure which was more dearly anticipated: the ruffles or the big bows. Ruffles across the chest, ruffles along the side of the trousers, ruffles in the shape of a tutu; ruffles, ruffles everywhere! We are certainly transported into Disneyland, where fairy princesses will escort us into the nearest fashion vault. It’s exquisite, it’s divine, and we are in Fairy Tale Heaven!
I do believe Wendy from Peter Pan was quite an inspiration. Or perhaps this entire collection is but a spitting mirror image of the noble wardrobes from centuries past. It is most certainly a trip down memory lane when mothers insisted their daughters look sweetly charming in oversized bows, frills and silk or satin. Whatever was the overall inspiration, we are glad for it. Now all that’s missing is the Pixie Dust!
