What we actually expect from ready-to-wear fashion shows is wearable and functional clothing pieces that are also cool, trendy and unique, and the Polo by Ralph Lauren brand definitely manages to cater to our style needs each time. The Polo by Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2016 collection was unveiled in a pretty cozy atmosphere with Selena Gomez and Brooklyn Beckham being among the honored guests at the McKittrick Hotel in Chelsea enjoying the chitter-chatter with the rest of the attendees and Ralph Lauren himself, as the waiters were serving them all the goodies from the Polo Bar. As always, the designer stayed true to the style of Polo this way meeting our expectations and demands for the upcoming season. Trends may come and go, yet Polo’s style is eternal and always desirable.
The Polo by Ralph Lauren spring 2016 fashion show managed to revive that fresh spring atmosphere for a while unveiling an array of eye-pleasing bright colors and blooming floral patterns. There was absolutely nothing over-the-top and eccentric about this collection, but rather a cavalcade of easy-to-wear and practical clothing pieces with a distinctive femininity. Consisting of 31 brilliant looks, the line brings forth multiple styles and classy outfits for every woman and occasion. While the show opened with lovely printed looks composed of floral printed pencil skirts worn with Bengal-stripe shirts tucked underneath, knee-length strapless or V-neck floral dresses, striped pantsuits matched with floral tops and boldly colored and patterned outfits, a significant portion of it was devoted to the Western style with fringe and more muted colors prevailing here. Amidst all those printed or Western-inspired looks, we also saw some timeless staples, like the crisp white short suit with a vest or the white lace look that looked so fresh and eternally classy.
There was a strong game of shirting going on in the collection, as it unveiled not only printed or monochrome shirts perfect for wearing to the office, but also striped shirt dresses with different shapes that came topped with brightly colored blazers or jackets, making a fantastic outfit for a weekend outing. And talking about the outerwear choices, we should also mention those vintage-inspired schoolgirl blazers and the ones available in different colors and patterns and sometimes featuring the brand’s logo on the chest.
There is no Polo collection without a big dose of eye-popping bright colors and this time as well Ralph Lauren included his favorite reds, cobalt blues, rich greens and yellows into his lineup, making those little dresses and maxis, skinny pants with fringes and the blazers look so cheerful and summer-ready. And while those looks may appeal only to self-confident women, who don’t shy away from extra attention, the finale is sure to be the favorite of many. It was all about practical denim-wear, knitting and earth colors, where camel and sand hues make flattering pairs with monochrome blacks.
The same diversity present throughout the Polo by Ralph Lauren spring 2016 collection also referred to the accessories that spiced up the looks, wherein we saw brightly colored bucket bags and envelope bags with tassels, printed platform sandals and strappy heels, big belts and jewelry pieces. Everything about this collection was made to be easily transferred from the runway to the streets with no much effort or styling skills required from the wearer.
