Polo Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – New York Fashion Week

In a little more than a month Ralph Lauren, the head of Ralf Lauren Corporation clothing company, will turn 75. Almost 50 of these years the American fashion designer and philanthropist has spent in the fashion industry. And you have to agree that 50 is a big number. During all those years, the company has kept on surprising us with every new collection and we have all involuntarily become fans of one of the most famous and demanded fashion brands in the world.
This year’s New York Fashion Week will be remembered by fashion enthusiasts not only for the utterly gorgeous outfits that the designers have created, but also for the unique spectacles some of the shows turned into. During shows, we have already seen performances by dancers and we have seen a real theatrical play. The Polo Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2015 collection as well was no exception: the designer had decided to turn the presentation of his spring collection into a real 4D show right on the water. Under the bright light of the moon, the first Ralph Lauren model appears on the “catwalk”, then little by little famous New York houses, skyscrapers, bridges and lighthouses start to appear on the background. The background image changes into the famous Polo logo, Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon is blaring from the loudspeakers and the 74-year old designers himself appears on the stage. It was all so genuine, so realistic that we had a hard time determining which part of the show was real and which – a video recording.

So what can we say about the Polo Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2015 collection? The outfits of the first few models were all about black and white: white lacy dresses paired with black sporty jackets or worn over black leggings, short lacey tops combined with black and white striped skirts and black leggings, black and white striped knitted sweaters with white asymmetrical skirts, striped sheath dresses, ripped skinny pants, classical white shorts with wide belts, white shirts with ties paired with black A line skirts, a women’s suit in a very pleasant shade of beige and so on. Brighter colors and more complicated ethnic patterns and designs were brought into the collection by pairing a knitted sweater with a baby blue asymmetrical short skirt. From then on, the colors got brighter and brighter: a collared mini dress patched with floral prints, faded knee length jeans shorts paired with simple striped top in white, blue and black, a bright red dress worn under a lacey long white jacket, a black and white striped maxi skirt topped by a yellow sweater and so on.

When the colors got even brighter, that is when the Polo Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2015 collection became very “summery”. We saw light lime colored bikini tops and bottoms, which were topped with a short green puffer jacket, blue classical shorts that were complemented with yellow bikini tops and puffer vests in orange, yellow and blue, a bright pink maxi blouse resembling a dress that was worn over a green top that matched with green high heel sandals, a green clutch and green earrings. In general, the looks were very well accessorized. Head accessories such as beanies and fedora hats, pieces of jewellery such as earrings and bracelets, also shoulder bags, clutches and neck scarves were all vital components of the collection.
So much can be said about the new Polo Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2015 collection! With its signature pieces that are both feminine and have a touch of tomboyishness in them, the label will always be one of our favorites.
