Prada SS 2016 Campaign Launches New Model

Supermodels Sasha Pivovarova, Natalia Vodianova and Yasmin Wijnaldum are what make the Prada spring/summer 2016 campaign so very special. The Italian fashion house has released its spring campaign and we adore it, from the beauty of the sets to the artistry of the photography. While some designers opt for scenic creations, images with a lot of color, boldness seen through more than just the pieces portrayed, Prada takes on a more subtle approach, bringing the focus to the models themselves, from 30-year-old Alexandra Sasha Pivovarova to 33-year-old Natalia Mikhailovna Vodianova, with the Russians complemented by the appearance of Yasmin Wijnaldum.

Prada Spring/Summer 2016 Campaign

Sasha was born in 1985 and is a Russian model and actress, who studies Art History at the Russian State University for Humanities in Moscow. Her first runway show was for Prada after signing on with IMG Models, giving her a three-year exclusive contract. It certainly makes sense to see her back on with the house, looking as lovely as ever. To date, Sasha’s appeared in campaign ads for Prada, Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior Beauty, Miu Miu, Yves Saint Laurent, Mulberry, Chloé, Hugo Boss, Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors, and many others.

Natalia is also nicknamed Supernova; she is a Russian model, philanthropist and actress from time to time, born in 1982 and mother of four children. She has the quintessential rags to riches life story and comes in quite high on the top earning models’ list with nearly a 10 million paycheck annually. She started her modelling career at the age of 15 and is currently signed with DNA Models. Throughout the years she has walked 300 shows and appeared in campaigns for Guerlain, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Nina Ricci, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, L’Oréal, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Diane von Fürstenberg, Hugo Boss, Stuart Weitzman, and others. While Prada has been huge for Sasha, it was Calvin Klein that shaped Natalia’s career, a house she has come back to again and again. This is, in fact, her very first appearance with the Prada house.

Yasmin Wijnaldum is the newbie teen model that is starring in Prada’s spring collection as well, alongside the Russians, and she looks stunning! She is definitely one to watch as she takes on the screen and dominates with her gentle yet unamused stare at the lens. The Dutch model is only 17 years of age and starting her career with Prada, much like Sasha Pivovarova. She also walked for quite a few designers this fall, putting Valentino, Giambattista Valli, Loewe, Lanvin, and Chloe into her portfolio, alongside Prada. She has newly signed on with The Society in New York, where we can also find the likes of Kendall Jenner, and Molly Bair.

While the models make the Prada SS 2016 campaign, we love the ambience and the pieces presented in the series of photos themselves, from the looks of plaid and stripes, the darker tones and kitten heels, the intriguing ankle bracelets and floral applique jackets, all coming together to create a rather unique Prada collection. As always, we are left positively breathless.
