Dreamlike and ethereal, whenever Pronovias releases a new bridal collection, everybody is left wide-mouthed, whether it is a soon-to-be-bride or just an aficionado. Unveiled in Barcelona, the Pronovias spring 2017 bridal collection consists of a magical array of mermaid, princess and regal baroque silhouettes that were, among others, sported by iconic supermodel Irina Shayk on the runway. The brunette beauty both opened and closed the show, at the same time showcasing dreamlike proposals that with the rest of the 40 gowns prove any taste can be satisfied indeed.
Irina’s opening and closing dresses accentuated two of the signature styles of the Spanish brand: on the one hand we get the most classic, yet modern kind of proposal, which features a long-sleeved gown with a high slit, while on the other we have a sensual fitted crepe gown with a split train and exposing panels of lace floral tulle. Between these too yin and yang proposals, there’s a continuum of both traditional and modern bridal dresses that are just a pure pleasure to watch.
The Pronovias spring 2017 bridal collection features both dramatic, exaggerated pieces with glittery appliqués, and more simple, clean-cut ensembles, with the only exception of a few proposals that mix the looks without looking too bizarre. As in most of Pronovias line-ups, this one also caters to almost any kind of figure, unveiling every shape and silhouette possible, from the aforementioned mermaid silhouettes to empire cuts, from sinuous hourglass silhouettes to structured, A-line gowns with sweetheart necklines and to even edgy, bridal version of the iconic wrap-dress.
As for the necklines, Pronovias made sure one could choose between both plunging V necklines and high-necked Sabrina ones (although it will be extremely hard to choose between these goddess-worthy pieces, if you aren’t sure about what your dreamy wedding dress looks like). The Sabrina necklines, as well as the lace high necks that complete most of the hourglass proposals, just give the baroque regal touch to the dresses that will basically fit in with any outdoor, romantic ceremony held in an equally baroque-inspired garden.
Likewise, most of Pronovias looks got embellished with exquisitely beaded floral embroiders, which either caress the curves, as if they directly come from Mother Nature, or just adorn the airy gowns making them look even more ethereal. The second-skin motif is a traditional one for Pronovias, and it effortlessly adds a modern touch to most of the romantic, classic proposals that we always fall in love with.
Other subtle, yet quite appealing modern details used include side pockets, dramatic side slits, overskirts and, of course, pleated capalets in tulle. Hooded capes, on the other hand, firmly belong to the ‘fairly tail’ theme, as much as the exaggerated, oversized capes, combined with voluminous billowy gowns, which remind us of the most traditional figures when it comes to bridal dresses.
Slightly sleek fabrics along with both bright and off-white colors just offer a broad range of hues for any skin tone, while both the silhouettes and the technical use of different textures make it possible for any body type to be deservedly enhanced.
