Rag & Bone’s spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection was beautifully constructed and definitely had an aesthetic of being cool. The shapes and tailoring of the clothes were accentuated with beautiful lines such as the V-neck sweaters that showed contrast piping and designs around the neckline, hem and cuffs.
The shapes of these sweaters give off the appearance of being slouchy and comfortable, but the construction is so well done that they sit perfectly on the shoulders. The sweaters drape perfectly down the sides and the sleeves on these sweaters have just the right amount of slouch.
The Rag & Bone spring 2017 ready-to-wear line included ponchos and oversized shirts, very interesting ensembles and standout pieces. There was a very cool moto jacket that made an appearance in a great ready-to-wear ensemble.
The red, white and black moto jacket was paired with a set of black on black cargo pants with a long extended belt draped down the side. The black and white varsity jacket was paired with black, loose-fitting pants into black boots. There was a blue suit jacket trimmed in a strong red, with and blue pinstriped pattern with a stunning red pocket that was also done in black with a different textured pocket.
Dark patterns and a moody atmosphere on a black runway created an incredible overall show where the details of every ensemble popped. The menswear inspired womenswear was great from top to bottom, from the collars to the hems. Loose-fit denim pants showed up on the Rag & Bone SS 2017 New York Fashion Week collection paired with the beautiful sports jackets and also included the long, hanging belts.
With Rag & Bone as a fashion brand, an innovatively wearable fashion line is going to be expected. The oversized look and feel were not overdone and did not have the look of being incorrectly sized, but intentionally and perfectly executed.
There are coats, jackets, sweaters and dresses, skirts, shoes and belts and even high fashion fanny packs! Looking at the entirety of the Rag & Bone spring/summer 2017 collection, it is easy to see how the designers – Wainwright and Neville – were named the Menswear Designers of the year in 2010 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Rag & Bone has a stellar reputation and the latest fashion show lived up to their reputation. The looks were impeccable and comfortable in appearance and plenty of people will really want to wear these clothes. The take on menswear for women was interesting and comfortable from a shirtdress with exaggerated cuffs and strappy accessories to easy and comfortable sweat suits.
