Oh my, these Ralph Lauren looks are delectable! The Ralph Lauren fall/winter 2016-2017 collection moves from gorgeous earth colors, particularly in camel, taupe and browns, to perfectly black with a tinge of white and then throws in some denim, some tube tops and a whole lot of Victorian into the mix, before finishing off with some pretty darling gowns that are meant for the red carpet and feature jewel colors in garnet, ruby, amethyst and sapphire, each with a sexy detail that makes it all the more alluring for us, fashion lovers. There are 46 looks and at least 4 different themes happening here.
Fall Looks: With the fall season and then the winter looming over this collection, we expect warm pieces, from the tube cardigan to the beige loose pants, the scarves around the necks to the corded knit turtlenecks with matching jackets on top. We see high waists and straight legs, pretty half boots, brown tights and lots of layers. There are shirts and blazers, round necks and plunges, soft cashmere and silk blends all around.
There are some shirts and ties included as well, which are an interesting addition, adding to the androgynous effect that is huge for this year as a whole. We see plaid and we see suede, we see tight and we see loose. And combined with the culottes there are lots of boots to keep the legs warm, effectively covering up nearly every last inch of the body.
Androgynous Effect: Perhaps the most interesting outfits within the collection are those that include a more masculine lining to them, with the suede pantsuit in the loose boyish fit, combined with the grey shirt and tie forefront on that list. That also extends to the schoolgirl look, as if the ladies are not appearing preppy enough without the plaid tie over crisp white shirt, covered in a vest and a patchwork coat thrown over on top.
New style Western tuxedoes also appear, with black velvet, leather, fringe, floppy hats, crisp white shirts and pretty black bowties all mixed together. And then there is the denim, the Butler meets pretty goddess looks and just plain old ruffled collars that make the simpler Victorians look good.
Pretty and Sassy: Black velvet is what is best used here it seems, with lots of lace, short skirts, legs clad in tights, and ankle boots. Add in a Victorian neckline and you have scored the new little black dress for the fall season. Shiny leather, interesting cuffs and sleeves, and some pretty sassy accessories make for quite the collection on this end. It seems the sassiness also extends to Western looks, with lots of fringe added at some points, to accentuate the bowtie look.
Red Carpet Gowns: Finishing off the Ralph Lauren fall 2016 line-up are the jewel and onyx toned dresses that fall in sheaths or flutter around the bodies, some with slits and others with open backs, some with plunging necklines or open shoulders and others with strategically placed slits to really ramp up the style in here. There are even some shiny gold looks that we expect shall be worn by one celebrity or another soon enough!
