Known for getting her inspiration from Sixties and Seventies, Rebecca Minkoff chose Marianne Faithfull, the symbol of youth and rebellion of her days, as her muse for the spring 2016 collection, which did come up to our expectations. Targeting willful forward-thinking women from around the world, the Rebecca Minkoff spring/summer 2016 collection had a distinctive subtle sensuality and wayward character. Minkoff’s 2016 color palette can be defined as Yin & Yang beginning with the parade of cool shades featuring ivory, bone, pearl, alabaster, lavender and continuing with suva grey and all shades of black.
In her new collection the designer successfully matched different textures and garments such as sweet and romantic sheer chiffon, lace, silk with textured tweed, suede and, of course, leather. The lineup was full of trendy details, such as frills, fringes, V-necks, studs and featured different shapes ranging from classic A-line dresses to flared trousers, T-line tops and wrap dresses. In the beginning of the show we saw the delicate woman wearing pretty sheer dresses with frill details, flowing off shoulder blouses with long voluminous sleeves, ivory flared pants, and long flowing pearl dresses. As the show continued the mood changed to bring forward the wayward woman wearing studded leather biker jackets, black shorts paired with a matching suede zip-up jacket with fringe details, black skirts and lace dresses. The highlight of the collection was the lavender suede poncho with fringes paired with matching skorts reminding us all of the sweet old Seventies.
This spring, the Minkoff woman is daring and combines two different spirits in one outfit. She knows that delicate black lace looks stunning with studded leather vests or biker jackets, she knows that the trendy jumpsuit looks just perfect with a sheer chiffon blouse underneath, but above all she has attitude which she expresses through her edgy style. Overall, Rebecca Minkoff’s spring 2016 collection was feminine and rebellious full of the Seventies charm and rebellion.
For her spring 2016 lineup, Minkoff created a beautiful line of accessories, including the gorgeous middle size duffel bags with fringe details performed in browns and blacks, and the bohemian looking ankle and knee high pumps with chunks of leather cut out in diamond and oval shapes featuring different textures of leather and suede. She also offered a simple solution of rounded flats with ankle straps in blank leather.
Rebecca Minkoff’s spring 2016 show inspired by the mod ‘60s star Marianna Faithful naturally featured iconic lash gazing bangs. Is it Bangs we heard? The bangs that are so hard to maintain or grow out and look cool only on catwalks? Yes indeed, however Minkoff’s bangs were gorgeous and you will be surprised to know that also fake, sorry, I meant clipped in! So next time you feel the urge of getting bangs without commitment go for clip-ins and find out if it is your cup of tea. As for the beauty look we saw minimalist makeup featuring perfect skin with a touch of blush on the cheeks, nude lips and lashy eyes underlined with black or brown eyeliner.
