A happy customer is a loyal customer, and Rebecca Minkoff doesn’t like to disappoint her devoted aficionados. For this reason, for the newest Rebecca Minkoff spring/summer 2017 collection, the Californian designer carefully listened to what her customers had to say and wanted for the upcoming warmer months, focusing thus on bohemian vibes and Instagram-approved statement pieces.
Led by Rebecca’s business-savvy brother Uri, the Minkoff’s company is now an empire, with the accessory line being particularly prone to treating us to timeless staples that quickly become must-haves. Rebecca Minkoff’s secret is the ability of exactly knowing what’s going on in the fashion industry, as she makes sure her customers precisely get what they are looking for.
For this Rebecca Minkoff spring/summer 2017 collection, both Uri and Rebecca took a step forward into trying to understand their audience, utilizing data analytics and brand new flagship stores as ways to get feedbacks from their customers.
“The goal here was to talk to our consumer, give her what she wants. We listened and gave it to her,” the designer told WWD. “Two key factors in this listening process were the opening of our flagship store[s] and with the web site, our data and analytics are so much stronger.”
As a result, fashion-hungry Minkoff’s ideal customer got provided with a simple, yet ethereally refined array of California-inspired staples, the patterns, designs and boho-chic lines of which make us count the days until the next spring/summer season. Apparently, what Rebecca and Uri perceived from such feedbacks was that Rebecca Minkoff’s ideal customer urges the label to travel back to its origins, both chronically and geographically.
The Rebecca Minkoff spring 2017 collection celebrates everything that is California-inspired, from hippy movements to Coachella-ready staples, which, in return, urged Rebecca to go “down memory lane and back to my roots in California — the beach, the surf, boogie boarding every weekend, that lifestyle. I think there is so much happening right now in California, especially from a cultural point of view.”
The collection perfectly encapsulates California’s free-spirited souls, transposing its motifs to off-the-shoulder mini dresses, bon-ton frocks with lace embroideries, floral patterns and, of course, mini jumpsuits.
The Rebecca Minkoff spring/summer 2017 line-up manages to represent California’s fanciest side throughout a few well-balanced proposals too, namely a cropped bolero jacket with stripes and pairs of bright, curve-hugging trousers meant to be matched with everything from elegant shirts to relaxed t-shirts. As for the latter, Minkoff took the chance to ride the ‘ironic t-shirt wave’ by designing relaxed graphic tees with ‘Malibu’, ‘Darlin’ and ‘California’ written in bold letters. Designing graphic t-shirts is a nice move indeed, and we bet they will invade our Instagram feeds as soon as spring begins.
As for the accessory line, this time around Minkoff’s winning horse is the shoe line, with suede block-heel wrap sandals dominating the collection.
