One of the most expected events of the year – New York Fashion Week – has kicked off featuring spring/summer 2016 collections and unveiling the trends of the future season, giving us all an opportunity to be the first ones to try them out, as we are all in for a treat. Who said Marie Antoinette is so 18th century? RED Valentino comes forward once again as a subtle unconventional Prêt-à-Porter line. This time Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, the reigning duo of one of the mightiest names in fashion industry, opted for Marie Antoinette as their muse for the RED Valentino spring/summer 2016 collection and she proved to be a remarkable inspiration. Staying true to Valentino romantic style, the designers successfully combined 18th century delicate feminine details with modern silhouettes. As a result, they created a sweet, fresh and chic collection giving their signature A lines a new interpretation.
The RED Valentino spring 2016 fashion line targets young romantic fashionistas, who are into fashion but don’t go mainstream, but also die hard rockers, who are always happy to find the perfect edgy leather corset black dress making the perfect outfit to sport both on a metal concert and the red carpet. It’s as diverse, cool and pretty as always, bringing colors ranging from soft pastels to timeless blacks and whites, both long and super-short lengths, sensual see-through babydoll dresses and short shorts matched with the sweetest blouses with ruffles and prints. The collection is a rich mix of edgy little black dresses, fine corsets with lingerie details in soft pastels, hand embroidered dresses with beads here and there, rich floral trench coats, dresses in sheer delicate lace and elegant finishes. All this is made for those, who like to walk a trend-free road of ultimate individuality. The highlight of the collection is the mind-blowing 18th century inspired denim jumpsuit – black lace and corset is a new interpretation to what has become a very trendy silhouette during the past seasons.
The outfits would never be complete if not for the genuine Valentino accessories. Particularly interesting are the eye popping floral pumps, stilettoes, must have pastel sneakers, flirty ankle boots and lace-up ballerinas all creating bohemian chic. As for the bags, the designers have put into motion all their creativity and have created a line of Fan silhouette inspired clutches with floral and bird patterns making us all yearn for one and be classy and flirty as hell.
Natural makeup, or rather the no makeup look remains in trend. Slightly flushed cheeks and perfect shiny skin with slightly highlighted natural eyebrows and nude lips give a particular touch of modernity to the 18th century inspired outfits. Add sun scorched gold hair in a low, messy bun with a bang or two left loose for a more natural glamorous look and you have one pretty typical RED Valentino look that’s sure to make everyone fall in love with your style.
