Independence is weightlessness. This is how we can describe the ideological background of the Reed Krakoff spring/summer 2014 collection showcased within the framework of New York Fashion Week. After announcing about their financial independence from Coach, this line of Reed Krakoff seems to be sending a message about his free and worriless emotional predisposition. The primarily chosen yearn to “a direct approach to femininity, intersected with tenets of the brand” was thoroughly accomplished. “It’s super-fluid and feminine,” says Krakoff about the line and his words find their visual justification throughout the show.
Weightlessness and womanly charming looks are the main focus of the Reed Krakoff spring/summer 2014 collection. The cream and white overtones were presented in a uniquely light and heavenly way. What if not the delicate chiffon fabric could give the opportunity to make the lightest pieces ever? The colors were not selected coincidentally either: mild cream and white, all of a sudden broken in with sunny-bright yellow, sliver and mysterious black. Transparency was another key element of the idea. It created two contradicting effects simultaneously: weightlessness and feminine enigma. Suits and coats were the main “covering” elements of the Reed Krakoff spring/summer 2014 collection, still created with a slight touch of transparency.
In reference to the shapes, the deeply cut V-curves are worth mentioning, used in case of several satin garments. Straight shirts accompanying minimalistically designed yet luxurious tops were also an awesome reflection of women beauty. Wonderful and quite interesting draping was used in case of some dresses. Among the color plays, we definitely shouldn’t forget about the silver shiny motives attached to some satin outfits. Paralleled to this, a small, yet significant proportion of floral prints were also used. Yes, ladies can’t do without flowers and Reed Krakoff knows about that.
Thus, we see another calming and truly beautiful flight of elegance on the runway of New York Fashion Week. Fashionisers, you have a lot of interesting ideas waiting for being discovered this time as well.
