The Lebanese designers generally have the upper hand when it comes to the beauties presented on the different Fashion Week runways, whether we are thinking Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, Rabih Kayrouz or Reem Acra. They have that perfect combination of French style and Middle Eastern tastes, mixing the cultures and fashion rules together to recreate something that redefines the concept of sexy or unabashedly perfect. In the fall/winter 2016-2017 collection from Reem Acra, we can clearly see how she veered away from the bridal pieces that gave her the fame she now enjoys over 16 years back, and into what is sexy and lovely and incredibly dazzling to the eyes.
It was an ode to the femme fatale figure and done with such grace and beauty that one just stared in amazement as the models moved single file down the catwalk, showing off the seductive nature of a woman, who knows what she wants to be and ensures she is all that with every step of her dainty legs and every sway of her hips. From the opening look to the very last piece of the 46 outfits shown off, it was a show to remember all right.
The black cap-sleeve dress of the intricate embroidered lace, covering up but showing off so much of the body as a whole was beyond precious and the sex appeal of the look is not to be doubted in the least. From the Victorian collar to the bare center of the chest down to almost the naval, it is a look that inspires one to become an artist. The temptress effect is put into many a piece really, from the black embroidered silk off-the-shoulder gown with the red peeking from underneath to the black night sky of a dress in chiffon and bright silver studs, drawing out an intricate solar system against the transparent material underneath.
There is a lot of black, a lot of red and a lot of silvery white to be found, along with quite a bit of transparency, showing off the limbs, while fringe is utilized to accent the ethereal effects of some of the gowns worn on stage. There are major echoes of barely there lingerie, while we get to enjoy a ton of lace and boudoir inspired creations that suggest nudity while still keeping it all classy.
We see cascading ruffles and fit and flare leather, strong suggestions of Art Deco influences and illusion gowns in intricate embroidery. The bad girl turns rather good by the end though as the finishing touches to the presentation on the catwalk include a series of glitter and embroidered looks, along with some pastel colors and chiffon gowns.
Golden yellow, gorgeous taupe, cascading greens, pale lilacs and cobalt silver Amazon queen creations spark up the runway and really redefine the concept of sexy. At the end of the day, nothing beats a Reem Acra gown and we can be positive a few of these will be astutely gracing the celebrity appearances on the red carpets soon enough!
