British fashion retailer River Island has been experiencing increasing sales ever since Rihanna partnered with the label back in 2013, and its latest ad campaigns have never failed to embody such accomplishments so far. For its newest River Island fall 2016 ad campaign (the collection is available at RiverIsland.com), the retailer tapped model Lindsey Wixson as its autumnal muse, who’s framing the label’s most recent success with her haute couture-esque attitude and stunning poses.
What’s more appealing regarding the campaign, however, is that whenever River Island finds the right muse, it sticks to it. Besides the American beauty, the British high-street retailer asked model Simon Nessman to complete the photoshoot, as with his fresh face he is now an habitué when it comes to River Island’s male lookbooks.
Captured somewhere in New York by Australian fashion photographer Emma Summerton (who has most recently shot the Kate Spade New York fall 2016 campaign), the campaign’s duo has been styled by River Island’s another longtime favorite – stylist Edward Enninful, who carefully chose to wrap the models in what could be regarded as the most representative staples of the River Island fall/winter 2016-2017 collection.
The River Island fall 2016 collection is all about casual-chic looks that could easily transition from day to night without looking too formal or too informal.
“River Island is dedicated to continually heightening its range of trend-led product. Our in-house design team has curated a solid fall collection across women’s and men’s wear made up of casual separates, evening wear and trend-led accessories,” River Island’s marketing director Josie Roscop told WWD.
Both Nessan and Wixson, the latter of which has a signature carefree look also thanks to the pair of her so-called ‘bee-stung lips’, help recall this wearable and covetable side of River Island, giving us a complete glimpse of what the label has in store for us for the new season.
Maximalist and infused with glam-rock vibes, the River island fall 2016 collection charms us with both tailored long coats dipped into a delicate cream white color, and in military jackets with a stronger, street-style attitude that will surely boost any confidence. Midi skirts with romantic floral embroideries create an appealing contrast with the sultry miniskirt Lindsey Wixson rocks along with a pair of abstract fishnet stockings, while a casual, zip-up sweatshirt surely stands out when compared to River Island’s pair of over-the-knee fancy boots.
The River Island fall 2016 accessory line is incredibly appealing too, with both velvet baseball caps and embroidered handbags there to revamp any look.
As for the campaign itself, the pictures will break in the September issues of various British magazines, such as British Vogue (which never misses a chance to celebrate Wixson’s talent), GQ, Elle and Glamour.
