Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – Milan Fashion Week

After unveiling his Just Cavalli spring 2015 rtw collection on Milan Fashion Week catwalk, it was time for the famous Italian designer to present his creations for his main clothing line, called Roberto Cavalli. The Roberto Cavalli spring/summer 2015 collection brings all the characteristic vibes and styles of this legendary fashion house, winning the admiration of all the Cavalli fans and not only! The designer has been known to combine non-combinable, changing the definition of “permitted” in the fashion world and finding new harmony. Cavalli draws his main inspiration from nature, the proof of which is his love for animal and floral prints. He travels around the world with a digital camera in hand, ready to capture everything that attracts his attention, and turns those impressions into inspiration for his new collections.

So what was the inspiration behind the Roberto Cavalli spring/summer 2015 collection? We say nature and sea again, with its colors, floral and animal prints. The new Roberto Cavalli collection was truly a cavalcade of color contrasts. On one hand we had rather colorful maxi accordion dresses that had some “gypsy” feel about them and mainly consisted in wide horizontal stripes of all the colors of rainbow decorated with floral patterns. On the other hand, there were those all black and all white pieces such as high waisted skirts with matching, loosely tailored sleeveless tops, dresses with open necklines topped with long jackets of the same fabric, accordion skirts made of a see-through fabric paired with V-neck jackets, all white long-sleeved embroidered dresses, tops and high waisted shorts and so on.
The man who invented the sand-blasted look for the jeans probably could not leave his new collection without pieces in denim, could he? Of course not! Cavalli had used denim to design ripped straight denim pants that he paired with a white accordion blouse, a pale blue denim shirt worn with a maxi embroidered skirt, small shorts with matching short-sleeved tops with embroideries up front, and so on.

With the show coming to its end, we were presented to an array of dresses resembling snakeskin, among which noteworthy were those “orangey” brown miniskirts with matching long sleeve zip-up jackets and bags (the silver variation of the combination was no less beautiful), a short shimmery spaghetti strap dress with a hint of snakeskin in the front, a combination of dark blue pants with a matching jacket both adorned with straps of shiny snakeskin, a figure emphasizing long dress with deep V-neck and high waistline, cropped pants paired with a high collar shirt made of a see-through fabric and adorned with fringes around the sleeves and so on. Besides the snakeskin, the designer had also used leopard print seen on round neckline long flowy dresses, and a zebra print on two rather revealing pieces. Unlike the first two animal prints, the latter was not as common in the collections of designers.
For footwear, the Roberto Cavalli spring/summer 2015 collection brought high platform sandals in different colors to match the outfits they were worn with.
Looks like this year many designers are looking to the sea to find inspirations for their collections and we can only be happy about that. Sea-inspired pieces mean freshness and bloom and that’s something we will always welcome into our wardrobes!
