For the Rodarte spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection, Kate and Laura Mulleavy cited Seventies Spanish film “The Spirit of the Beehive”, unveiling a range of pieces that was surprising from every angle. The 40-ensemble collection provided a myriad of interesting details, textures and intricate features.
Unlike a lot of other collections that showed at New York Fashion Week this year, everything coordinated without looking repetitive. The various looks have a lot of personality, a lot of interesting features and will stand out in any crowd. From the jewelry to the shoes everything stands out beautifully.
Surprisingly, even with all of the different elements in each look, the outfits were not overly intense. Each look is rather dramatic and it is obvious that these styles are for the bold and those who know how to wear fashion without the look overpowering them.
Each piece is complex and sophisticated and melds together into a jaw-dropping overall collection. At every glance something new was discovered, at each turn on the runway something else caught the light. There was plenty to gawk at in this collection and plenty to plan on including in present wardrobes as well.
The Rodarte spring 2017 RTW collection featured staggered hemlines, plunging necklines, different textures, textiles and a multitude of patterns that truly looked excellent on the runway. There were skirts featuring sheer yet textured layers in this collection as well as intricately designed and sophisticated leather ensembles.
The aesthetics for Rodarte’s new collection are formidable and intriguing. A straightforward presentation of opulent styling and attention to details will always be appreciated by a like-minded crowd, and those with an eye on fashion will definitely have something to say about this collection. The voluminous sleeves on several of the looks were juxtaposed against fitted bodices and balanced out with flared ruffled skirts.
A fur coat done in a large patchwork pattern with varying textures and a closure detail also featured a belted waist and was complex and beautifully elaborate. This fur coat was just one stand-out piece in Rodarte’s spring/summer 2017 collection, which is arguably a line of stand-out pieces. Several leather dresses were awe-inspiring in the details put into the design.
The play on textures was a dream come true in many of the ensembles. There was white leather fringe on a piece that also featured rows of studs on smooth leather. Overall the pieces were just opulently appointed, stunningly displayed and interesting from head to toe.
The jewelry was phenomenal, the shoes were fantastic and the layers of lace were incredible, creating an overall look and feel that was just perfect on the runway. Rodarte brought the feel of glam and drama to New York Fashion Week with their spring and summer 2017 collection.
