Roksanda Ilincic Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – London Fashion Week

The British fashion designer Roksanda Ilincic is originally from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, but London is where it all started for the talented designer. Today Roksanda Ilincic outfits are easily identifiable and she can proudly claim that in a short period of time she has managed to create a distinctive style that only belongs to Roksanda Ilincic. The inspiration for the British-Serbian designer has always been the Eastern Europe of ‘50s and ‘70s of the twentieth century. The flowing fabrics, form-fitting silhouettes, the combination of the most vibrant colors are characteristics we can easily apply to Ilincic’s fashion style. This is so true about the newly launched Roksanda Ilincic spring/summer 2015 collection too!

The Roksanda Ilincic spring/summer 2015 collection was rather relaxed and casual. True, it had Ilincic’s signature bright colors, but this time everything was peaceful and serene, the colors calmer and more unruffled. The first few outfits were in light blue, pink and what is sometimes called “international orange” or a pale shade of the color. The dresses were smart, the blouses with clear-cut lines, but rather loose fitting. Pale pink long skirt was combined with baby blue long sleeve blouses with orange hems and collars, long orange dresses were patched with light blue cutouts and so on. To the next dresses that followed, Ilincic had added black and the color contrasts turned out to be rather effective and easy on the eye, although some of us (and some of you probably) expected that black would make the collection gloomier, which it didn’t.
We saw both form fitting and loose dresses, patched with black, light blue and green, orange and complemented with shiny belts. The collection, however, was not all about dresses and skirts. We saw very cute pairs of shorts and pants combined with sleeveless square cut blouses in the lightest shade of greenish blue, smart orange jackets, light pink collared blouses reaching just below hips and so on. At the next stage of the show the wide and abundant use of pink brought a little girliness and airiness to the collection as we sat admiring pink wide legged pants with light blue blouses, jackets and short sleeve tops. Ilincic’s collection also featured pink jumpsuits adorned with patches of black fabric up on the front.

Ilincic, however, decided to end things on an even brighter note and had designed a whole arrangement of dresses, skirts, tops and pants in the most vibrant of colors. First there were those blue, red and purple shorts with matching long sleeve tops in geometric prints, short sleeve dresses in blue and black, simple dark blue shorts topped with a colorful asymmetrical strapless top, skirts made of a see-through fabric adorned with blue and red patterns and paired with a light blue shirt and a short jacket in a darker shade of the color.
“It was about paring everything down – simple shapes, circles and squares, color-blocking”, said Roksanda Ilincic after presenting her the astounding Roksanda Ilincic spring/summer 2015 collection. And in fact, the collection turned out to be rather simple; exactly what Ilincic was aiming for!
