Saint Laurent To Present Fall 2016 Collection in Los Angeles Before NYFW

Here we are, officially counting down the days until the forthcoming fall 2016 Fashion Week shows to finally hit the runways. From Alexander McQueen coming back to London to Rihanna’s first Puma fashion show, this intriguing autumnal fashion season definitely bodes well, and we are not even down yet with the news and surprises. Get ready to mark your calendar with more and more events!

Saint Lauren has, in fact, just announced that it’s going to present its menswear fall 2016 collection, as well as the first part of its womenswear line at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, just one day before New York Fashion Week begins (which is due on February 11th). For the second part of the women’s collection we have to wait up until Paris Fashion Week as scheduled on March 7th. The announcement came, of course, via Twitter, quickly hitting the headlines.

Saint Laurent To Present Fall 2016 Collection in Los Angeles Before NYFW

Why Los Angeles, you may ask? Well, nothing is left to chance, when it comes to Saint Lauren.

Los Angeles plays a huge role in the life of Saint Lauren’s creative director Hedi Slimane, as it quickly became his adopted city. Although showcasing one of its runways in L.A. is an unpredictable change for the French fashion maison, Slimane has been working in his new studio in L.A. since his appointment as Saint Lauren’s creative director in 2012. The recurrence also coincides with the 10th anniversary ofSlimane’s online Diary, so we just have to wait and see what the 47-year-old designer has in store for us.

Such a choice also denies the burst of rumors that claimed the French fashion designer was about to depart from Saint Lauren’s creative direction due to creative differences and a mix of upset emotions between him and the maison’s headquarters, much to the displeasure of his many fans and followers. Luckily for us, however, he is not (hopefully) leaving any time soon.

Choosing to present his menswear and womanswear RTW fall 2016 collections in Los Angeles also means that music is going to play a huge role during the fashion show, as the runway will clearly pay homage to the city’s immortal music scene and cinematographic industry (the much awaited Grammy Awards will take place in the City of Angels just five days after Saint Lauren’s runway show). Saint Lauren’s L.A. fashion show promises to celebrate music throughout the many icons Slimane got inspired from all over the years.

Given the fact that Jane Fonda’s latest asymmetric ruffled Golden Globes dress was one of the most acclaimed dresses on the red carpet, we surely have to get ready for a memorable show!
