Sass & Bide Resort 2016 Collection

Australian designer label Sass & Bide has brought to the fashion world its resort 2016 collection, to the joy of us fans everywhere. The brand was established in 1999 by 2 best friends and the general consensus is that there is nothing we can possibly love more than some of its obscurely beautiful ready to wear pieces. Sarah Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton brought London’s Portobello road into their portfolio, ensuring the world would be exposed to the denim, the leather, the intimates and swimwear, alongside the women’s ready to wear, accoutrement and exclusive gallery pieces. We now see the awesomeness of the collection on the runway presenting the Sass & Bide resort 2016 collection, which consists of everything pretty and everything fine.

We see a cropped bustier open up the line, paired with a see through high waist maxi skirt that brings simple tribal markings to the sheer black fabric and appears as if the legs are completely covered in tattoos. The short nude colored skirt beneath prevents the world from viewing the most intimate of parts of the woman. Of course, this skirt is so lovely that a shorter version is necessary to show off the typical fashion that looks like it belongs more on the FW 2015 runway than for 2016 resort. Even the blouse is a sheer piece with black piping all over, worn with a black bra for added intrigue. Tribal markings make their way onto loose half sleeved tops as well, while do little to fully cover the midriff. Pair that with gypsy skirts that include pretty stitching patterns at the waist and double slits up the thighs and you have an outfit totally worth checking out.

When it comes to shoes, Sass & Bide prefer strappy gladiator pieces that appear more like open toe boots with a large amount of skin exposed. The handbags themselves are very lovely and large, while the accessories are kept simple throughout, just delicate chains around the neck and wrists. Intriguing belts have their own appeal as well and somehow turn the dresses into Roman tunics, but with gorgeous material and prints all over.

Overall, there is a major focus on the sheer and the appearance of lingerie worn underneath, keeping the panties to high waist boxer styles, and the bras to very supporting designs. Fringe makes an appearance as well as high waist pants with wide legs, while the hems often fall to the knees, if not below. There are a few shorter pieces, but we must admit the mint green is the best color a mini dress can come in. Plunging necklines, pretty embroidery, strapless creations and slits up the thighs, along with the sheerness of the fabric and a general black and white theme, are all markers of the 2015 trends that seem to have made their way into becoming prominent looks for the coming year. In terms of the jewellery, there are a few which are reminiscent of the slave days with collars and body chains to boot!
