Louis Vuitton has tapped Selena Gomez as its newest campaign star. Selena is seen posing alongside a model gang for the Louis Vuitton Series 5 fall 2016 campaign, perfectly embodying the brand’s modern spirit.
The 23-year-old popstar is the latest face for the label under Nicolas Ghesquière, ever since her first pose with the designer on a cover of Vogue Brasil a month ago. Gomez posted a picture of the cover on her Instagram as well, foreshadowing, “Exciting things coming with this brilliant man.” This caused for followers to begin guessing that this photo boded a future campaign between Gomez and Louis Vuitton. And now we’re happy to say they were correct!
The photos that have been released to Instagram and Twitter so far are part of the LV Series 5 campaign. The decision to cast Gomez as the leading star is totally grounded in her relationship with the brand, even before the close-quartered Vogue cover was shot.
Gomez has always had an apparent love for the luxury label, as she has recently been spotted at various formal and red carpet events (as well as each and every stop of her “Revival” tour to date) sporting looks from the brand. Even more notably, and recently, Gomez wore a total Vuitton ensemble.
Even despite wearing the brand, the pop singer has been present in the front row at the past four runway shows. So if there was any doubt in your mind as to why she would have been chosen for Louis Vuitton’s fall 2016 campaign, it should be gone now!
So far, five images from the campaign have been released to social media by both Gomez and Ghesquière. From what we can see, the clothes and overall shoot is sophisticated, with youthful modernity coming into the fun patterns and bright colors, among other things.
The first image released in relation to the campaign, for instance, is overpowered by a very large fur trapper hat. Aside from that is a crop top and oversized, fur-trimmed leather jacket, so there are a lot of powerful elements in this photo, and they are complemented by Gomez’s imposing, statuesque demeanor.
Thanks to this campaign, we’re really seeing the mature, high-fashion side that Gomez is turning to. As the new face of a luxury label, and with her journey wearing Vuitton at high fashion events, we have seen her emerge from her label as a Disney star.
Even aside from Vuitton, just her walk with luxury fashion on her tour in general has shown her new, high-fashion makeover self wearing names like Monse and Rodarte while out on the road.
Gomez is the most striking name and face of this campaign, which was shot by photographer Bruce Weber, but it also features models Erika Linder, Jean Campbell, Natalie Westling, and Rianne Van Rompaey.
With these initial images setting a precedent to the rest of the campaign, we can only imagine that the rest of the photos will have this intense level of sophistication from the models and the structure of the garments, with some great layers of fun and youthfulness popping out here and there.
