Sonia by Sonia Rykiel Spring/Summer 2016 Collection – New York Fashion Week

With New York Fashion Week spring 2016 being in full swing now, we slowly start getting to know the gorgeous fashion trends for the spring to come and, of course, we see lots of our favorites from the year of 2015. You have probably noticed that the sensuous Sixties and Seventies become an inspiration for many designers and high street retailers, giving birth to amazing collections we can never have enough of. This time we’d like to draw your attention to the Sonia by Sonia Rykiel spring/summer 2016 collection, which partially pays tribute to both the disco girl image and punk-style from those years. One more time, Julie de Libran has managed to create an undeniably youthful and chic collection that inspires, lures and makes you fall in love with the iconic Parisian style at first glance.

The main materials such as tweed and denim add a nostalgic feel to the overall collection, making the wearer feel like “a kid in her mother’s closet again.” Dresses with high waists, rainbow-motive colors and punk-inspired belts come in an abundance creating a sensation of being in a fantastic time-whirl. There is also space for vintage-inspired high-waisted shorts combined with high heels and chain-detailed bags, which definitely create an image of a Parisian girl.

No one can deny: Julie de Libran never ceases to amaze! Before starting the work with Sonia Rykiel her name was linked to Louis Vuitton, Gianfranco Ferré, Versace and Prada. Quite big stars on the world fashion trail! She took her new position with no less creative passion, shining brightly during her debut show at Paris Fashion Week 2015. If this didn’t sound perfect enough, Julie de Libran continuous making clothes under her own name as well, just in case you can’t have enough of her Sonia Rykiel chic creations. What regards her major occupation Julie continues following Sonia’s footsteps, but she does this in her own way, of course.

Staying true to the brand’s aesthetic, she has created fresh and modern designs for spring with a distinctive Sixties flair, pieces that are bright, colorful, yet totally wearable and functional. Next to the denim blues, we have bright orange and eye-feasting prints, and when it comes to the styles of the clothes and the lengths, think both bohemian maxis and super minis putting the focus on your leggy legs.

It’s not just the clothes that make a statement in the collection, but also the smart accessories, particularly the bright peep-toe high-heel shoes boldly matched with colorful socks, the comfy sandals and that heart-printed oversized clutch that can be the ideal thing to invest in if you intend making the traffic stop as you pass by. Style your hair into a natural ‘70s inspired do with bangs and add subtle makeup accents to define your facial features and you are ready to walk out the door in a fresh spring-ready look that leaves the gloomy winter behind!
