The Sportmax fall/winter 2015-2016 collection presented on the Milan Fashion Week runway today had us falling in love with rope style belts and coatdresses, not to mention the idea of showing off some leg without looking trashy or outlining too much of the silhouettes of our bodies. One of our favourite features of the line are the off-the-shoulder looks, the way in which so many of the garments are either with wider necklines that show off the collarbone or call below the shoulder, either on one side or both. For those with thinner figures and not enough girth along the chest, it’s probably one of the best looks to be rocking. For those who are ample enough, showing off the collarbone should be enough to bring out the sexy attitude.
Sportmax is a Max Mara fashion house brand that falls in line alongside Sportmax Code, Weekend Max Mara, ‘S Max Mara, Marella, Pennyblack, iBlues and Marina Rinaldi. Max Mara is definitely one of the better brands that exist in the fashion industry, and Sportmax has proven itself to be one label we can trust to provide us with looks we would be ecstatic to wear.
Trends taken into consideration are the coatdresses, the oversized sweaters, the asymmetrical hems, the suede fashions and the knit tops, the high round necks and the plunging V shaped necklines. We have fringe and we have floral, we have leather pieces as well as the lace. Billowing loose pants and center slits on the midi dresses; Sportmax also makes sure that none of the hemlines rise above the knees too far nor fall to the floor, ensuring they are all in line with the 2015 midi skirt trends.
While some designers decided to stick to one trend and really work on that, Sportmax takes the 1970s and remodels the looks to look contemporary and rather divine. There is even the good old patchwork appearing here and there, on kimono style wraparound dresses with black satin lapels and gilded floral prints on a black background. We do wonder about a few of the pieces though that make the size 2 models appear to be size 12 with their double entendre in oversized garments, including a large canary yellow sweater with fringe and loose satin cropped pants, with black and white laced shoes and matching purse to accessorize it all.
In terms of color scheme, the Sportmax fall/winter 2015-2016 collection features more neutral tones in black, brown, beige and camel with splashes of bright yellow here and there. The best yellow piece is quite bright itself, a wraparound design with loose short sleeves and a plunging neckline, the ease with which it falls against the body, enveloping the figure like it was meant for it. Not hard to imagine what makes this our favourite piece of the line-up. The shoes are interesting as well, in their caramel color and platform design with the lace adding a touch of elegance to the whole ensemble. We see the same piece in black leather, dark brown, a black, white and caramel mix, and a few with different bases and bodies, combining all 4 of the colors mentioned.
